Although Johnny’s Barbecue in Louisburg is definitely Eastern North Carolina style—vinegar based rather than Lexington red sauce based—it’s still commendable. By the sandwich or by the pint/quart, this barbecue will fill you up and keep you coming back for more. They have weird hours, though. They’re closed on Mondays, and they close pretty early throughout the week. The place is usually pretty hoppin’, but if you’re looking for down home barbecue, Johnny’s has a great recipe. That’s for sure. Be sure to take a bag of their hushpuppies—delicious morsels that melt in your mouth!
