I am on my third pair of glasses in four weeks, and they are no better than the ones I have had for several years.\r
I went to this store because they were recommended to me.\r
I explained to several people my first visit that I work in front of two large computer screens, and lately have had to start looking over the top of my glasses to see them clearly.\r
I went through some pretty standard tests, and was told that I should get ""high definition"" lenses that are made from some special type of plastic that makes them perfect for viewing computer screens.\r
I was told that they cost more than the normal plastic, but that they are worth it.\r
After 2 weeks, I called to see if they were in yet.\r
The lady I spoke with got a little rude as she explained to me that they would call me when they came in, and that they have a rush on them.\r
Apparently, there was a ""quality problem"" with the ones they had received, and they had to have them remade.\r
Several days later, the second set came in.\r
I pointed out in the store that the right lens really seemed to be very blurry, distorted and out of focus; I was told that was normal with this kind of lens, and that I would get used to it.\r
Three days later, and I was having headaches and feeling queasy every time I had them on. \r
I walked directly into a person at the gas station because I could not tell there was anyone or anything directly in front of me... So I called the store and asked how long it would take before I got used to it. They told me to come in and have them ""adjusted.""\r
The second person I spoke with during that visit could see the problem as soon as he picked them up, and told me that they should not have sold me those lenses.\r
He then went on to tell me that the high-definition glasses, and the special plastic, do not work well for viewing wide computer screens, and that he thought we should ""try"" a different kind of plastic and a different kind of lens.\r
He then asked me what I thought would be better.\r
\r
Today, the third pair arrived.\r
As long as I look over the top of the glasses, I can see the computer screen well enough to read it. But not looking through the lenses.\r
And these still cost the same as the special plastic.\r
\r
I should point out that I have absolutely no training in optometry. I go to an eye doctor to get glasses that work, not to ""try"" things or pick my own prescription. If a dentist asked his patients what kind of material the fillings should be made from, he would probably lose his license.\r
\r
When a store asks the customer what prescription is best, they very neatly transfer any responsibility to the customer, and remove themselves from the process of providing quality care.\r
\r
I will not be returning to this store; I recommend avoiding Wing Eyecare. I imagine any of the online suppliers or one-hour stores in the mall would be far better.
