AVOID FIRE & ICE HEATING & A/C AND THE OWNER, GEORGE LANDEN LIKE THE PLAGUE!! The owner of Fire & Ice Heating & A/C, previously under the business name of Fire & Ice Heating & Cooling, had an employee install a brand new, $6300, Ruud high efficiency heat pump (which consists of a furnace and A/C unit) in 2006. It was installed so horrifically that now in 2013, the whole unit is destroyed. In addition, it created a terrible mold problem which will cost me over $1800 to remediate. Mr. George Landen, the owner, refuses to take any responsibility for his work and at the VERY LEAST, replace the furnace (I was willing to settle for a new furnace ONLY to avoid court). He told the Better Business Bureau that because the company is no longer in business under that name, he not responsible. He did not deny it was his employee's fault, and he did not try to fix the problem. He just said, that business no longer exists. Does this sound like a good company to do business with? He believes the miniscule name change in 2009 takes away any liability on his part. Again, does this sound like a good company to do business with?\r \r When my A/C died this summer, I had it fixed and it cost $2800. Then my furnace died. That was enough, I had it. I called Mr, Landen and he sent out his own assessor, Dave, to review the situation. My new furnace guy was also with us. At the end of the ""review"" Dave, said ""he would stand with me in court and state the heat pump was installed incorrectly."" Today, Mr. Landen met with my heating and cooling man and me, at my home. My new contractor tried to get George Landen to do the right thing, avoid court, and replace my furnace. Landen hemmed and hawed and kept asking me if I had ""any papers"" of his visit in 2009 (after the name change). He obviously was just fishing to see what evidence I had on him. I threw him out of my house. \r \r No matter what his business name was, he continued to work under his old business name after 2009, when he changed it to Fire & Ice Heating & A/C, as shown on Angies' List. My new contractor, who tried to broker a solution with Landen, and is highly rated on Angies List, said he has never seen such grotesque work in his years as a heating and cooling expert. The matter is now in the hands of my attorney. Even if I get nothing at all back from him, I want to be sure NO ONE HAS THE SAME EXPERIENCE I HAVE HAD WITH THIS COMPANY.\r \r If Fire & Ice did any work for you, HAVE IT EXAMINED RIGHT NOW. Review the company at the Better Business Bureau and other internet sites, and stay away. more
