I was moving from NY to NJ for a new job. I had a 3 week window to find a new place. I settled on a place in Woodland Park (the old West Paterson). Oblivious to what goes on in NJ, I implored the realtor for an honest assessment. Was this a good area? She assured me it was. On the drive to my new place my GPS took me through Paterson. As I saw I was 0.7 miles away from my home and there was gangbangers and drug-runners EVERYWHERE, I wondered how I could be so obtuse in listening to a real estate agent. Never again. They only cared about pocketing my money, not my well-being. I live next to the murder capital of the world because I trusted one of their realtors.
