I have been to Jackson Hewitt/Tax Express in years past and been happy with the service. This year I was super disappointed. The old woman in the reception area was highly grumpy and sat me down with the person who would be doing my taxes who was eating and barely said hello. I would highly recommend calling on the phone and make sure you get someone with experience. I was one of their employees first new clients. The reason I paid extra to have my taxes prepared and not do them myself was for convenience and to be able to get low level tax advice and have some very basic questions answered on future tax planning. I got neither. It took extremely long, the woman had to keep calling people for what was a very non-complicated routine return and she told me to come back and talk to someone else after tax season about those basic questions that I would need to know now to plan for next year. I so wish I had done my taxes by myself, what a waste!
