Great Concept - Bad owner & Staff 11/2/2011

I purchased a Groupon for Run, Jump and Play for my children to come and try out. While I thought the Groupon was a great deal, however, we will not be going back. I, unfortunately, wasted my money here. My fault for not checking it out first. First and foremost, the staff, including the owner, is rude and seems as though they are displeased with the fact you walked in their door. (I am basing this off of the two visits we have gone.) The first visit, the owner was making fun of someone's child who had posted pictures somewhere - I am assuming Facebook - and was discussing it with his staff that was at the front desk. After being there for a while, I didn't think the place was that clean. I understand it is a facility where party's happen and kids are there playing, but it didn't appear that they cleaned or had anything to clean the play area where the swings were. There was dust everywhere and spots on the floor that I didn't want to know was there. Second, while we did try to come back to the facility, just to make sure that maybe everyone was just not having a good day, or maybe something happened, we attempted this yet again. While I was checking in, the girl seemed like it was an issue to assist me to get checked in. (Because they had no one at the counter and they were all either sitting or standing around - there was about 4-5 of them.) When I went back to ask them if we could play the bowling, the two lady's were discussing on how to start the bowling, I was watching my children to ensure that they were where they were supposed to be. I then over hear the owner go back behind the counter to discuss a customer on the phone who wanted a refund for some reason. He rudely and quickly snapped at the lady who was on the phone with her that he ""was not refunding anyone anymore money for (whatever it was)""... and that he was going to ""take care of it"". While I was watching in astonishment, not only because of his behavior, but I could see why, up to this point, the staff was like it was. And this is a child's entertainment area...which I find amazing at the fact that it didn't seem ""child friendly"" or adult friendly at this time. After listening to him get on the phone, I turned around and the lady's that were going to assist with starting the bowling looked at me and the one said ""well, are you coming or not?"". REALLY!!!??? You think speaking to your customers like that is appropriate. I didn't feel that talking to the owner was going to get me anywhere. And I also didn't think the $4 per game of bowling was worth being treated like that. After my children were playing in the bowling, the owner came in and said hastily ""What lanes are they playing on?"" After telling him, he hurries over and starts playing, then grabs some of the bowling balls my children were using so he can finish his game. I have decided after that experience and witnessing what I have witnessed already, that the Groupon can go to wasted. Also, in addition, I hate to say it, but the McDonald's play area in Mason is cleaner than that Run, Jump and Play. It is a shame because my children thought it was a fun place. Cool idea to have the playsets, inflatables, glow in the dark putt putt and bowling all under one area. Just not a cool idea to have someone run it who obviously doesn't have his heart in the right place, mistreats customers, and obviously his staff. No further contact is needed. I am just disappointed and wanted to state my review. (By the way, we visited during the week, not on the weekends.) more
