The fact that a place called Falafel King also serves sushi is totally weird. And it's jarring enough to make you question whether or not the falafel is actually any good to begin with. (Which it is.) Want to know what's even weirder? The sushi isn't all that bad!
So while the combination of sushi and falafel (yes, I tried both in one setting) is a little bit offputting, the falafel was awesome. Hot, crunchy and hand-rolled, it reminded me of the falafel I had in NY a few months prior. The accompaniment--grape leaves, hummus--were both decent and the pita was fluffy and super hot, like it had just come out of the fryer. Or however they cook those things.
The other think I like about the King, is that it feels like you're in a college town. It's a tiny place that serves good but cheap fare to a crowd that's young and typically decked in sweats or other collegiate lounge gear. What's not to love?
