Hands Down Best Mediterranean Food in the City! Inexpensive! 7/23/2011

I know Mediterranean food, and Zorba's is hand's down the best in the city. The Chicken Schwarma is to die for. There rice is warm and heavenly. The owner and his family light up each time a customer comes in. It's an exceptional value, as the portions are generous and most meals are $10.00 or well under. Zorba's isn't a swanky restaurant, but it has exquisite food, warm service and very clean bathrooms. In these tough economic times, this is a restaurant worth visiting and keeping alive. Tip: if you've never tried Mediterranean food before, just ask the waitress what she recommends. You'll be pleasantly surprised by the flavorings. If you've never had Chicken Schwarma, you are missing one of the tastiest sandwiches available. more

My boyfriend and I discovered this little mom and pop place a little over a year ago and fell in love. He used to live in Saudi Arabia and says this is the only place that is comperable to the mediterranean food over there. The son (that 11 year old server) makes it more fun and he is adorable!! All the food is fresh and we absolutely love it. If your looking for a great place to lunch, this is the best for the price as well as food. Forget the ""unmatching decor"", the food is GREAT! Unpleasant 6/28/2009

My boyfriend heard from a friend that this was the best Greek restaurant in town and took me here one night as a surprise. The hummus was ok, the pita was very tough. The atmosphere was awful. It was decorated with chinese style chairs and nothing matched and was lit with fluorescent lights. I ordered a chicken dish and couldn't stand to eat it. The chicken and gyro looked very questionable.. The food was extremely dry and unappetizing, I won't ever dine her again. Pros: Hummus Cons: Atmosphere, questionable meat more

AWESOME!! The food is amazing, The owner is a great man. \r The Garbanzo beans are soaked and ground personally by the owner for the,\r Hummos and Falafel, I know this personally beacuse I loved the food so much,\r I decided to apply to work there,(I Have seen him grind them myself), \r I promise you will not be dissapointed. \r Zorbas is hidden behind ""Lucky Burger"", on NW Military rd. (Castle Hills).\r it is one block south of West Avenue. The Gyro is my favorite..The french fries are awesome...Okay EVERTHING is ""AWESOME"". \r You may bring your own cocktails and no problem...They have wine openers.\r PERFECT for todays economy. Zorba's, and excellent culinary surprise! 11/15/2008

Based on the reviews of other on this site my girlfriend and I decided to try out Zorbas. Great Mediterranean food and greek food has been hard to find locally. What a pleasant surprise to find Zorbas. The staff was awesome (only one guy we saw?) and the food was spectacular. Dolmas, Hummus, Shiskabob, all fantastic and the best part was that the flavors of each had a unique quality not seen in other local eateries. Portions are generous, another thing disappointing about several of their competitors. All in all we give Zorba's a very good review, food with few equals in the area. Do not be afraid, the drive is worth it! more

This is a quaint charmer of a restraunt, the owner is great, and the food is wonderful!\r I can't get over how delicious the hummus is, this will be a family favorite from now on. Best mom & pop mediterranen restaurant 10/19/2008

If you are tired of the franchise and on the run restaurants this is the place to go. This place is a little mom & pop restaurant that has great food and great service. The food is delicious and not dry but make sure you come with an empty stomach the food will fill you up. And the prices are very good that won't leave you broke. I strongly recommend to anybody who wants to experience what a delicious chicken shawarma is all about! more

Fantastic food, I mean it 10/16/2008

The food is amazing, and the service is very nice. #76 with the gyro meat is superb. The appetizers are also very good. Thank goodness I live close. Cafe is quaint, cozy, and is well worth everybit you pay and wait. Don't forget to try the baklava....whoa. Pros: Parking, Food size Cons: Very crowded at lunch more

Best mediterranean food in SAT 10/15/2008

As we walked in our waiter greated us very well and we were seated immediatley. The service was excellent we started out with falafel and hummus. The presentation of the food was really good and the taste was EXCELLENT!!! The falafel was not all dry it was so moist and delicious. The humus was great and it was sprinkled with olive oil. We were greated by the friendly owner and we chatted with him a little. I ordered the all garden gyro and it was excellent, it did lack something so I asked for the yogurt cucumber sauce that made it perfect. Im so happy that san antonio finally has a good mediterranean restaurant that has good food that is not all greasy or overpriced. By far the best food and service in Castle Hills 9/25/2008

This is the one of the best restaurants to go to by far. THE FOOD WAS ABSOLUTELY DELICIOUS AND THE SERVICE WAS A FIVE STAR SERVICE. The location is hidden but you can't missed it if your are looking for it. The owner is almost always there and is very friendly. The food is fresh and delicious. Great local spot with personable staff & good cheap food 8/31/2008

We've gone to Zorba's several times now, and we've been happy each time. The food is yummy, we've had the falafel, gyros, turkish coffee, and the baklava is to die for. They make all their food from fresh ingredients on-site, not frozen & trucked in. And the owner of Zorba's is usually around, very personable and friendly and several of his family members work there. It's not your average impersonal fast food place - it's a casual dining place with some personality, and lucky for us it's just around the corner. The inside is a little bare bones right now, but I'm sure it will fill out nicely as they are in business longer (it just opened this summer). Amazing food, and very family-friendly. 8/24/2008

Though it doesn't follow the normal ""American"" joint, in decorations, for example, Zorbas goes above and beyond what I would have expected. For me, this is the best Greek-Mediterranean Restaurant in town. If you enjoy Demos, or Papuliis, this restaurant is better in ten fold. I have had consistently delicious food, and This restaurant has become my favorite in all of San Antonio. For me, one of the best food of any restaurant I have ever been to, and as a constant traveler, i have been to my share of places. The employees are all very kind, and great people. NO GOOD 8/17/2008

I bought a $25 gift certificate from restaurant (dot com) for this place. Big mistake! Everything was really disorganized and the staff seemed confused. Our waiter was seriously like 11 (son of the owner) and was really obnoxious. My food was not good at all. I am a huge fan of greek food, but this place was not good at all. Maybe its because they just opend. Another thing, the waiters were counting their tips in front of all the customers....very unproffesional. The place is dirty and oddly decorated. Delish, attentive service, great management 7/28/2008

I went with a friend from work. We were able to sit right away. I ordered the falafel and it was great! Our waitress was very attentive taking care of our waters and brining proper set ups.\r \r The manager stopped by twice.\r \r The ambiance is interesting, its a great lunch place - not for dinner for me though as they dont have cocktails.\r \r Price is right too.
