I REALLY HAVE TO GIVE ONE STAR, NOT 0!
Although this happened a few years ago, I still have sand in my shorts about it. I am so glad I finally get to share it with you guys and gals.
I was living in phoenix, and my sportster was my only transportation, and I rode it day in and day out. The tires were getting close to being worn out. I asked around, and pretty much everyone said this was the place to go to get great tires and service.
The bike was brought to the shop, and put in line with the others...When the kid(and I was only 25 at the time) was working on it, I stayed near the door to watch.
When I noticed him wailing on the rear axle with a BFH to get the wheel back on, I asked the old bearded dude to go keep an eye on the kid and what he was doing.
They told me it was done, I hopped on the bike, and wheeled it out of the shop. The belt didn't seem to be tracking on the rear pulley correctly, and the kid said he had set the tension a couple of times, and it kept coming out like that. I figured it was only a short ride home, then I would do it right.
SO SO SO MANY TIMES I WISH I WOULD HAVE DONE MORE THEN AND THERE!!!
I started riding home, and the tranny sounded like there was a little sand in a bearing. Just a very faint sound... BUT by the time I got home it sounded like there were a bunch of rocks bouncing around in there.
Then I get the bike into the garage, and figure I'll adjust the belt.. IT WAS TIGHTER THAN A VIOLIN STRING.
Turns out that the main carrier bearing was shot.
I called the wheel shop, and they said there was no way that there installation could have caused it and I was SOL.
I SHOULD HAVE TAKEN IT TO HARLEY GOTTEN A LAWYER AND SUED THE BSSTDDS,,, but I had no money at the time. AHH I guess we all live an learn... HOPEFULLY You can find a better place to take your bike and hard earned $$$.
