Truly A Great Spot 11/12/2009

I've been going to Mosconi's for years, and I absolutely love this place. The food is outstanding, the menu is extensive, and if you cant find something you like on the menu, theyre happy to make something that fits your taste. The staff is incredibly warm and welcoming and really add to the atmosphere of the restaurant. Go and enjoy. more

One of the few truly authentic, traditional, family-run New York Italian restaurants left; i.e. 1/29/2009

As NYC restaurants so easily come and go, Villa Mosconi has done an amazing job of staying current while remaining true to the simple but proven formula of good food (ask them about Nonna's favorite pasta), fine wine and attentive and genuine service.\r \r I've been going to this restaurant for over 20 years and am proud to say that somewhere along the line, I feel as if I became one of the family. As my former guests and I can attest, the food is always spot-on, whether it's off the menu or one of the dishes off the vast ""daily specials"" menu. The wine list is very comprehensive, but will not break your back if you're on a budget. And the service? What can you say when the Wait-staff still wear black ties and are all either part of the family or have been with the restaurant since the beginning. These gentlemen have been formally trained as waiters and know the forgotten art of service. The only drawback is the next time you go to another restaurant you'll probably realize just how bad or inexperienced the service in NYC really is. \r \r If you want to try a restaurant that's Old School but can teach the Nuevo Italian restaurants something, I highly recommend Villa Mosconi. Pros: Homemade pasta dishes and specials (the Ossobuco is one of the best in NYC) and great service. more

Authentic Italian Food 5/26/2008

I have eaten in Villa Masconi's on several occasions since the late 1980's and I must say they are not only consistent , but have gotten better. The menu has so much to offer, but I am a cream sauce lover so I stick to those dishes. My dinner guests have never been disappointed. The service is impeccable and friendly. I highly recommend this restaurant. Pros: Food, service, ambience more

WOW! 11/20/2006

I had a great time at this cozy place. Was just like walking into grandma's house...everyone was so nice and friendly. Who we thought was the grandma in this family owned business came out to greet us goodbye, gave us a hug. One of the waiters told us why espresso served in America comes with a lemon peel. It was one of the best, if not the best, italian restaurants I've ever been to. The food was so authentic and fresh. I hardly eat out for italian since I don't think it's that hard to make pasta at home. But you definitely can't make this type of itialian food at home unless you have your own italian grandma. The six of us ordered 6 dishes and shared it family style. I highly recommend trying their green pasta -- but all of the dishes we had were excellent (we also had wild boar, linguine w/ clam sauce, chicken rollatini, sausage and peppers, and some other chicken dish I can't remember). They had 2 different kinds of italian beer to choose from. And don't leave before getting a cup of capaccino and dessert. The RASPBERRIES WITH ZABAGLIONE was amazing. We had strawberries instead of rasberries -- the first bite I thought I was eating champagne! All in all, excellent place for a date or group gathering for a special occasion. Never rushed, excellent service, and delicious food. Pros: Excellent food and service. Friendly staff. Never rushed. Cons: Hard to find parking in this area. more

nice italian place in the village 11/5/2006

Food was very tasty and fresh. Ambiance was nice and quiet ... went here on Valentine's day so it was filled with couples. We arrived early for our reservations but they had no problems seating us right away. Good inexpensive food. more

The Truth 8/8/2006

This is my FAVORITE restaurant in the WHOLE WIDE WORLD! After receiving a recommendation from a co-worker, I took my boyfriend here for his birthday- BEST move I ever made. This family run business makes you part of their family with very warm welcomes. The pasta is so FRESH!! My favorite is Fettuccini alla Romano with Grilled Chicken (the chicken part is not on the menu but they accommodate it to HOWEVER you like it). The Prime Sirloin Steak is always perfectly made. You CANNOT visit this place without ordering the Calamari- you will just DIE from the delicious flavor it gives your mouth! When I get married, this will be the place I host my bridal shower. I PROMISE YOU, you will not regret eating at Villa Mosconi. They make you family, and family is forever!! Pros: Comfortable environment, beautiful ambiance, EXCELLENT staff Cons: That I don't live next door more

A great italian restaurant right in the heart of the village. As soon as you walk thru the door your greated and treated like family. The food is wonderfully prepared and just delicious.
