I want to take a minute to thank Nathan Whitfield for making the experience of purchasing my 2015 4 Runner a pleasant one. Nate was friendly, honest and genuine throughout the deal. I had a conversation with Nate approximately six months prior to this purchase at which time he explained my options. I was not ready to buy at that time but, Nate kept in touch with me anyway. When I was ready to purchase I phoned Nate and made an appointment with him the next morning. I was honest with him in regards to how much of a payment I was comfortable with and in return he was just as honest (much appreciated). Nate did not attempt to sell me something that I was not interested in nor did he attempt to sell me something that I could not afford. I believe that salesperson like Nate are an asset to the Toyota team and for this reason I have purchased my last 6 Toyota's from Universal Toyota. Keep up the great work Nate. We just bought a Toyota Tundra 2016 this June. Aaron was our sales person. Aaron Perches is really knowledgeable and funny. He was excellent in handling our purchase. He was able to find the perfect vehicle to suit both our needs and wants. He worked extremely hard to exceed our requests when negotiating our asked price with both, the financial department and manager. We had an excellent experience due to his ability to honor all our requests. We would definitely recommend Aaron as your sales person. more

Subject: Salesman Mr. Robert Duncan\r I went into the Toyota dealership looking for a certain Scion. As soon as I got out of my car Mr. Duncan asked if he could be of service. Very nice man. Very professional. I told him what I was looking for & he promptly took the lead. From that point to the end of my buying a new 2014 Scion XB. Robert Duncan was there explaining everything about the car. Asked if there was anything else he could do to make my experience better in any way? I was very satisfied with him & my new car. never buy from here. we drove from houston to SA and bought a use 2012 camry last two week 9-10-2012. stock number 223466. upon the agreement to buy, saleman name AJ verbally agree to get the 2nd key to the car mail to my address within next couple of day. two weeks later still have not got the key, i call AJ several times about the key he kept on saying that he sended the key already, but could not provide the tracking number. then he kept on saying that he ll call me back but never did. i then call customer service to get the problem resolve spoke to receptionist (kathy&natalie) ask to speak to general manager Darren Dortch they said he no longer there even though the thank you letter had his name as customer relationship. then i got tranferred to several mail box which noone response to the message i left (frank sanchez, adam, martinez). they should be up front with customer about they have the key or not, instead of leading us on to buy the car then never kept their promise. it is not that i cant can afford a key but they should not lie, this will be on every review i can find on the web unless they contact me and resolve this issue. more

Dont buy your car here 1/5/2012

My dad brought a Corrola new in 2007 from Universal Toyota San Antonio TX. I was there when he brought the car and he also brought the tire warranty. Before he brought the tire warranty from the dealer they told us that if the tire is worn bring it in and we will replace it at no charge. I ask them about dry rotted and they said yes even dry rotted as long it is normal wear. Over all it was only $300 added and my dad and I thought it was a good deal. Pros: null Cons: null more

SVC Dept recom. $1000 in unnecessary svc & repairs 10/23/2011

The door lock handle on my Camry broke and I called to see if they had the part. The parts dept never got back. Registered on the web site. Also no reply. Called twice, got an appt after then and though that was great. Usually go to VICTORY LANE AUTOMOTIVE (which is honest), but didn't think they could get the part by end of week and not open weekends, so went to the dealership. Never did that before and wont do that ever again. They estimated it would take an hour to fix. Over an hour later they hadn't even started the repair but took me back and recommended a brake job, transmission flush, coolant service, new wipers, new gasket cover, the list went on .... at that point I just stopped them and got my son who came with me. Was tech auto school trained 2 yrs. Looked at car. All unnecessary repairs. Coolant clean and full when popped cap, as was transmission fluid, (they didn't bother to assertain that these were done 15K ago!) gasket cover had drop of water on it, no dirt or oil (IN TX?!?) AND I just had the car inspected end of JULY. I got mad and told them to stop touching my car and just fix what I told them to fix. I would not buy a car from them as would not want them to service it and I will never use their service dept again. Pros: null Cons: null more

First-time customer - good experience 9/30/2011

I went to the service department for an unexpected repair during Labor Day (wife decided to see if the car would run on diesel fuel). I called Universal Toyota and happen to speak to Mr King (Service Director) about my problem. He helped me find a tow truck to pickup my car and once I arrived, he and Marshall took care of me quick. They gave me a couple of options for correcting the problem--saving me money in the process. The one thing that would have been nice is a courtesy car wash. I guess you have to ask for one and there is a charge. I've been to other Toyota dealerships that will run your car through the wash even if you just have an oil change done. In any case, aside from the problem my wife created--I was satisfied with the service I received from Universal Toyota. Gave only 4 stars because I felt I could have been given a free carwash after spending $500+ on service/repair. more

Horrible experience 3/24/2011

From the time I walked into this horrible dealership I was lied to and cheated absolutely nothing was done correctly they messed up my registration and two days after the purchase when I complained about a loud abnormal noise in the car I was told that there was no noise that it was normal and that they weren't going to do anything about it everyone from the salesman to the general manager could care less that I had a problem they had there money and that was all they cared about. I did not find one person at Universal Toyota that anything about satisfying my complaints and in fact lied and wanted an additional $5.000. to fix a problem that should have been covered under warranty. Toyota's warranty is worthless it seems they just deny that there is any problem. It is no wonder that Car dealer are at the bottom of the food chain. This dealership is the worst. more

Sketchy used car dealer 2/2/2011

I found a used Matrix I wanted on AutoTrader and called Universal around 9am to see if it was still available. The salesman, Roberto, assured me it was. Since Universal is a 1.5 hour drive for me and I had errands to run before I drove there (including applying for a car loan), I checked back with Roberto Souza periodically during the day to make sure the car was still there. Around 11am I double-checked AutoTrader and found that the listing I wanted had been removed. When I called Roberto, he again assured me the car was there - he said "I can see it right now". more

Worst car buying experience. After thought are deal was done, was told congratualtions, multiple people called us and kept telling us we had to give them more money, buy more warrantys and other items from them. They were extremely rude and lied. Do not buy anything from them. more

Don't buy from this dealership, I bought a used truck from this dealership 5 months ago with an extended warranty. I had the routine maint. required on this truck with a complete history, Long story short Universal Toyota has not fixed the Truck and when i talk to G.M. cust. service rep. she (Carolyn) said sorry we can't help you, I spoke with service manager ( Bud King) i recieved the same sorry, I spoke with the extended warranty co. ( Old Republic) they said the same thing sorry. 10,000 dollars used Truck, 1700 dollar extended warranty,2000 dollars down payment, 5 months later i am left with a broke Truck estimated repair cost 8,000 dollars for a new motor .... wow !!!!!! What a great dealership ........you do the math.... I wouldn't buy from these people ever again and i hope you think about buying from these people... more
