No Problem with the ER 5/20/2014

I have no complaints. I did have to wait a little longer than I would have liked due to my being in a lot of pain, but once I was back in the ER the doctor was very thorough and sent me for the correct tests, which confirmed his initial diagnosis. He was also very sympathetic and understanding and before I left the ER dept., I was referred to one of the best specialists in the area. He operated on me the very next morning and removed my gallbladder that turned out to be very infected and full of gallstones. I did not notice if any of the beds' linen were changed or garage collected. I'm sure my husband would have mentioned to me if it were. I am sorry to hear that other people did not have such a positive experience at this hospital. more

Not all experiences are as negative as they say. 6/17/2011

There's quite a few review on here bashing on the Trumbull Memorial Hospital. But, you have to consider how often people are more willing to complain than to compliment. I have been in and out of the hospital for years for some vague kidney issue, and every hospital I went to told me it was just an infection. They gave me antibiotic and told me to drink more. But when I drank, it hurt worse, and it only ever affected my left kidny. Something was off. I went to Trumbull and they actually figured out what it was. I was getting the infection from a congenital defect that caused the drainage tube to my bladder to grow to small on my left kidney. They put me in contact with a Urologist, which none of the other hospitals did, and he even scheduled me for a surgery when ever I wanted it. They didn't stop there either, they also found out that I was pregnant, that same night, took care of me when I went in for a different kidney flare up, and delivered my baby. All my visits were nice, though not prompt, but you have to remember how long testing goes and how many factors go into it. They tried every test before they diagnosed me, which is more than I can say for the other hospitals. They also have a great network of doctors on-call from surrounding offices, and have been clean every visit I've had. And I was out of the ER waiting room in 15 mins both times. St. E's had me waiting for 2 hours. I say Trumbull is great. more

Don't go to the ER if it's a life or death situation.. 12/5/2005

I agree with the above person, no matter how full or empty it is in the ER at Trumbull you are almost always guaranteed atleast an hour wait. Then once they take you back to a room you're guaranteed probably atleast another hour wait before an actual doctor comes to see you. I've had bad experiences with the ER there on a few occasions. One time I went with my friend and the doctor completely violated her privacy by practically announcing to everyone within hearing range that she was pregnant (she did not know until then). On another occasion I went with my boyfriend, the nurse came in and asked him questions. The doctor told him to open his mouth and say "Ah" and then the doctor left and came back with a prescription for Tylenol 3, which he should've been given an antibiotic with the symptoms he had told the doctor. He was also misdiagnosed. The doctor told him he just had a sore throat and he really had mono! After that little amount of time, I'd say at most the doctor seen him for literally 2 minutes, he sent my boyfriend a bill for $475. Riiiiight. more

Not the cleanest 11/27/2005

Even if you go to the emergency room and it is not busy you are guaranteed to be there 6-7 hours. They are far from clean and sanitary. Patient beds don't get changed everyday and they don't even empty the garbage cans daily. Had one overflowing in my room for 2 days. more

my experience wasn't the greatest 8/7/2005

My mother has spent alot of time in hospitals due to her heart. Once there was not a bed available at either of the two that she would have been sent to, so instead they sent her to this one. To me it seemed everythng was taken at a very slow pace. Also it was very very dirty. The dust was so thick you could write a message in it, dust bunnies under the bed.....and this was the intensive care unit... more
