Tomatoes and Lavander 1/16/2006

OK..so that's a weird combination, but faithful readers of my reviews should know by now that I have ecclectic tastes! After driving by Tony's for years, I stopped in last summer for tomatoes and lavendar. (And yes, dried lavender mixed with a bit of sea salt and freshly grated parmesean topping green tomatoes under the broiler for a few minutes IS good! I was soo pleased with the plants I found! I got a fantastic harvest out of the plants I found there. Just as impressive as the plants was the family-business aspect of Tony's. I spoke with a son who was a teenager and he was full of knowledge and confidence. Not only should Tony be awarded a prize for growing great tomatoes, he should get one for growing great kids. more

Excellent Undiscovered Nursery 1/9/2006

Tony’s Garden is in a rather odd location, tucked into an undiscovered neighborhood in outer east Portland. It is certainly worth the discovery, with an excellent assortment of plants year round, at extremely reasonable prices. Tony, himself, can be found many a weekend during spring fever helping customers. A family run business, they have outstanding plant knowledge and take the time to offer advice to the novice or expert, if you are willing to ask. more

Find all your gardening needs 11/20/2005

Tony's Garden is a family owned and operated business . Choose from a beautiful selection of annuals, perennials, vegetable starts and herbs. They also have a great many fruit trees and shrubs to choose from as well. My favorite every year that keeps me going back for more is their pineapple sage. It really does smell just like fresh pineapple and is so good in sweet n sour meatballs. If you cant find it any where else you are garunteed to find it at Tony's Garden. They have great prices and selection. They always give me great information on how to take care of the plants I am buying. more
