We don’t go out to eat for food that tastes like home. If we wanted food that taste like home -we’d just stay home- then we could not complain. We go out to eat to try different recipes and different foods that I don’t normally cook. We go with open mines and empty stomachs and we are very rarely disappointed.
Although Tony Rigatoni's In Golden has been around for 19 years I never had an opportunity to try their fare. Original we went to Tony Rigatoni's In Golden because we had a good coupon in our Entertainment ’09 book and my parents, who were our guests, wanted Italian food. We all went back last weekend because we enjoyed the food so much the first time.
The restaurant is very charming with plenty of interesting Victorian woodwork and pictures to keep you visual stimulated.
Both visits my parents ordered the Shrimp scampi. It had all the normal flavors of shrimp, garlic, parsley and white wine and was very good; put Tony’s went a little farther and added sautéed green onions, cherry tomatoes and green peppers to the top of the mound of noodles.
Now we all know Shrimp scampi does not normal have any vegetables in it, but the addition of vegetables was a welcome sight to a normally bland looking meal and tasted fabulous to all of us. Of course we trade bites!! How else would you know what you are missing?
I had the Fettuccine with Chicken, Sun-Dried Tomatoes and broccoli in a tomato Cream Sauce. It had a actual name, but I don’t remember it. It was so good it was very hard to stop eating when I had enough! My husband had the Penne pasta with sausage & peppers. He didn’t bring home much either!!
All of our meals came with a house salad, garlic bread (yummy) and a glass of wine. The first time we all had the house wines and they were all wonderful. This time we all wanted the house Chianti, but they were out, so we were served a wine from Chianti Colli Sensesi – to went perfectly with our food.
We all loved everything we ate, We HIGHLY recommended it!
