The Washington House

Good: Ambiance was fine. My Rack of Lamb was best I have enjoyed in years. Hot rolls and butter were so good I new we were in for a treat. Yeungling Beer $4. Wines start at $6. Sara's Shrimp over Rossoto with scallops was super, could not finish so she had half for lunch today. In at 6:30 PM and still made the 8PM show next door at Sellersville Theatre. This was our first time to Washington House in 6 years. Lamb was $29, Shrimp was $19. Bit expensive, but worth it.. Bad: Forgot to bring coupon. Waitress offered me one, so I gave all to her, plus a 12% tip, she was happy, but we were overjoyed with the dinner experience in total. Others spoke of over cook or underseasoned food, I don't understand. My lamb retained more encrusted seasoning than I have ever experienced. Even the broccoli had a nice seasoning to it. My asparagus was grilled perfectly.. Improvements: larger cocktail glasses. Other: Never thought we would enjoy the show next door at Sellersville Theatre, but it was great as a desert.. more

I cannot recommend this restaurant. My wife and I had heard wonderful things about the restaurant, and decided to try it out for our first anniversary dinner. The food was bland, overcooked, and overpriced. Soup: $6.95 The "crab bisque" appeared to be campbells tomato soup with chunks of crabmeat. Score: 3/10 Appetizer: $8.95 The bacon-wrapped scallops were overcooked to the point that the scallops were tough & the bacon was dried-out and crunchy. Served on a plate with horseradish sauce, it did not even look appetizing. Score 2/10 Main Course: $23.95 I got the daily special: Pasta w/ shrimp, crabmeat, tomatoes, and basil. The tiny shrimp were overcooked and chewy, and there was absolutely no crabmeat in the dish. The dish was basically noodles drenched in oil, and it was completely tasteless. I tried to trade with my wife to see if she would like it, but she only had one bite. Score: 1/10 Crabcakes: ~$20 My wife got the crabcakes, and they were decent. Lots of crabmeat, not a whole lot of flavor. Score: 5/10 Dessert: $? Chocolate peanut butter mousse cake. By far the best part of the meal. 10/10 Drinks: $? They have a nice beer & wine list, and the drink specials were pretty tasty. 9/10 With three drinks, the total came to $100 plus tip, and I figure I could have had a better meal at any diner for half of that. The atmosphere had potential, but they could do with a dress code. We were wedged next to a grossly overweight gentleman wearing cutoff sweatpants and arguing with the waiter about coupons... not exactly the romantic evening we had been expecting. Very disappointed, we will not be going back! more

I've dined here on several occasions, and the food is excellent. The restaurant itself has lovely ambience, and the staff is most cordial. The cuisine is American food, salads, roasts, chops and more. There are specialty items on their menu as well as seasonal. Fish is always good, as well as their beef dishes. I’ve also had their “dinner and a show” in conjunction with the Sellersville Theater next door. They offer a nice meal for two, and it is just before the show, so you know you will get there in time. This restaurant is high end, so be sure you take that into consideration. But for special meals with good friends or a special night out, this is just the place you are looking for. more
