When arriving in Atlanta I made a search for a mongolian grill and screamed with excitement when I found...

Worst

We met friends we have seen in years with their children for dinner. The meal was good especially since were with children everyone was satisfied because they were able to create ...

Cool place, great food and value 8/28/2005

My boyfriend and I ate here on a Friday night and we had a great experience- our server was sweet and attentive, the food was fun to make... and for $6, you can get a great cocktail or a martini, not like other pretentious places in Atlanta that charge $10 and up for a martini. The vibe was cheerful and upbeat, we had a great time! Pros: food , parking, value more

A new casual place to dine 8/23/2005

I consider myself a frequent diner in Atlanta. I've been to all the new/old places and I have to say, I'm glad I stumbled upon this place. I was looking for something a little more casual and someplace that wouldn't break the bank. The drinks are cheap, my martini was $6 and the create-your-own stir-fry was reasonable as well at $11.99. If you looking for someplace fun to hang out with a group, or just you and a friend, you should check out this place. We went on a Thursday night and waited about 15 minutes for a table, which gave me time for a drink before dinner. My server Allie was great, taking care of my every need. It's a fairly new place, and like all new places, if you don't like it the first time, you should try it a second time to see if anything has changed. Pros: service, cheap drinks, free valet Cons: noise more

Worst restauraunt experience Ever 8/15/2005

Service terrible - Not friendly, had to beg to get water. My date got the wrong wine and the glass had lipstick on it - not a smudge, an entire lower lip mark in red. Food was average - I have cereal bowls bigger than the ones they give you to fill up. Ran out of mushrooms before 8 on a Friday night - Ummm...ever hear of a grocery store? If going to a crowded place because you heard it was hip and getting food you could easily cook yourself is your idea of a great dining experince then this is the place for you. If this ranks as one of your best dining experiences in Atlanta then you either A) never get out and have no point of reference or B) you've had a terrible accident that wiped out all of your tastebuds. Either way you have my sympathy..... Pros: NONE Cons: terrible service, crowded, food more

Hip but not too hip for me 7/13/2005

Went with a group of folks on a Weds night. Place was packed and full of ""beautiful"" people you might see in a night club on CSI: Miami. Very intimidating at first as I was very casually dressed (shorts and flip flops) but the server was very cool and friendly. He went over the protocol and we we're on our way. I put together a jambalaya dish and then a rice and fish combo on my second trip. Very good! For $11 or $12, ya gotta try it! We did have to wait about 10 minutes to be seated but we had 8 people in our group. I say get a drink and people watch until you're seated... more

Great find in Atlanta! 7/7/2005

I have been here several times and love it. The area of town is a bit shady, but on the brink of major development. This is the ""soon-to-be"" area of Atlanta. The free valet parking helps with the feeling of the area. The food is great! There is a bit of a wait on weekend nights but a good steady crowd on other nights with little to no wait. Ask for Donald he is very fun!! This is not your cheesy Mongolian BBQ place. This is a great economical dinning option for good friends who just want to have a great time. Drinks are very reasonable and the Mojitos are great. See you there! Pros: Food, Patio, Drink Menu Cons: Slow Bar Service, Buffet Lines more

CHOW DOWN at CHOW BABY 7/1/2005

I dont typically do buffett style restaurants and I am a very picky eater. When I heard about a New Restaurant in town that lets me build and create my own meals I was all about it. From the Free Valet parking to the Cheap drinks. You can't complain about the food b/c you make it yourself. You design the bowl and they do the rest. The Mojitos are awesome, along with the large seclection of Asian Beers. The staff is very pleasant and the ambiance is great. Check it out, your wallet and stomach will thank you. Pros: Stir Fry, BAR PRICES, MOJITOS more

good food, mediocre service and atmosphere 6/26/2005

i was very excited when i heard about this restaurant. i convinced some friends to go, and the food was good. however, the wait took way longer than necessary, as there were a ton of seats open, and the service was fairly bad. no one was rude, but the staff was pretty non-existent. the ambience wasn't what i had imagined. i thought that it would be a bit more artsy or swanky, but it was just kind of loud and boring with terrible techno music. however, the food was good and cheap, especially for all-you-can-eat. Pros: food Cons: atmosphere, service more

good food and good value 6/24/2005

Finally, Atlanta gets a mongolian bbq restaurant. You basically make your own recipe, and let them cook it. There is a wide variety of meats, veggies, spices, and powders. Solid value if you eat a lot, especially the lunch for $7.99 because it's the same stuff as dinner. Probably not a good place for a first date, considering what a buffet can do to your stomach. Pros: variety of food, low prices Cons: middle of nowhere more

Ms. Pat Kahiga 6/23/2005

The food is superb!!! I was at the Grand Opening and was very pleased with the hordeuvers. I returned several times for lunch and each time the food is always refreshing. The vegetables were always fresh. The first time I just ate fresh vegetables. There were so many vegetables to choose from. During my subsequent visits I enjoyed myself tremendously at the stir fry bar. Each meal was different from the last. I am so happy I found this place. I go at least once a week. Thanks for a refreshing lunch option. more

My Only ""10"" Rating Ever 6/23/2005

I had to write a review on this restauramt. It was one of the most awesome places I have ever eaten. The atmosphere was great, the food was great, and the service was the best I've had in the past 10 years. We arrived about 5:30 pm on Friday night and our large party of 10 was seated right away. The bartender made us our first drinks at the bar and recommended some of their house drinks to us. We then moved on to dinner. We had 70 items to choose from for dinner. We created a meal from the food bar that was exactly as we wanted. We were enjoying ourselves so much, we stayed for 4 hours. I would rate this restaurant a ""10"". I have told everyone about my experience. Go there tonight, you won't be disabpointed. Most Happy, Rebecca Hardin Pros: Atmosphere, Food, Music more

It's about time Atlanta 6/22/2005

After experiencing the amazing dining experience At Chow Baby, it has now become one of my favorite places to be and eat in Atlanta. Not only are you able to create ""YOUR OWN"" meal with your favorite foods, but the atmosphere and service make the restaurant out of this world. It is sometimes very difficult to dine where the service is great the energy is high and the food compliments it all. At Chow Baby, it all comes together. If you haven't tried it, you are missing it. Give it a shot; I guarantee it will become one of your favorites too! Pros: Service, Food, Atmosphere more

Chow Baby? Yeah, Baby! 6/21/2005

The Real Chow Baby is a breath of fresh air amid the ""been there, done that"" eateries that litter Atlanta. As soon as you enter the doors, youre immediately greeted by a friendly staff and taken promptly to your table. The main event is obviously the stir-fry buffet. You can choose from a variety of noodles, rice, meats, the freshest vegetable selection around, and various spices and sauces (Thai BBQ and Peanut are my personal favorites). You can literally eat there every day and make a new creation every single time (Ive been to Chow Baby 5 times, and Ive yet to make the same dish twice). The ambience is uber-trendy, the service is prompt, the servers are super friendly and always helpful, and the food is unbeatable. Dining at Chow Baby isnt just an eating experience but rather an exercise in culinary creativity and experimentation. Yeah, baby! Pros: Fresh ingredients, Great food, Friendly service Cons: Slightly overpriced, Crowded more

Amazing Experience!!!!!!!! 6/21/2005

Wow, I can't say enough about The Real Chow Baby! Way above average experience. The Staff went the extra mile to make me feel so comfortable even though it was my first time in. From walking me through the amazing ""make your own stir-fry"" experience to making helpful suggestions with the drink menu, It was really great. I'm not sure who these other detractors are, but the only reason I went to Chow Baby was because of a recommendation from a self-described ""foodie"" co-worker of mine. Everyone at my office agrees; Chow Baby is one of the most FUN, TASTY, AND CUSTOMER-FREINDLY EXPERIENCES IN TOWN. (And its a great first-date spot!) Pros: Service, Value, Fun Cons: Only 1 Chow Baby, No Chow Baby near me, No delivery more

Check out Chow Baby 6/20/2005

I have dined at other concept like this one before and they have taken it to another level, and got it right. With complementary valet an environment that is ultra hip and a staff to match With the wide range of choices it is impossible not to find something I like. With the two types of rice to the different noodles and all the fresh veggies, The 17 different sauces allows you to mix and match or go plain Jane if you like, and the meat fish and Tofu If you can't find something to make that you need to stop dinning out. Not but 2 minutes I get back to my table my food is here just as I made it and what a creation I have made.. If you have not been get in line with the rest that are flocking to Chow Baby...this is a winner. Chow Pros: complementary valet, patio, lunch and dinner more

Finally, Atlanta is Catching On 6/20/2005

Everything about The Real Chow Baby was amazing. I made a reservation, arrived on time, and was seated within 5 minutes. The owner was extremely personable and introduced himself. The waiter was extremely informative and helpful. The food... all you can eat for $11.99! And, it is not nasty buffet food; this is fresh veggies, pasta, rice, sauces and meats/fish. It was absolutely a great experience. And the best part was the atmosphere. I felt like I was in a lounge of a club with my friends eating amazing food. You cannot ask for anything better. I cannot wait to go back again! more

If I knew how to cook asian food.... 6/20/2005

I would do it for myself! Of course theyre no better. Problem #1 In a half full restaurant with plenty of available tables we were ushered to a bar table (elevated with Bar stools). When I asked for a table ""in the dining room"" we had to wait 5 minutes before they decided it was ok to sit us at one of the 5 open tables in the dining room. Problem #2 My first attempt was at fried rice. I got the ingredients including an egg. (BIG MISTAKE). The finished product was covered in slimy uncooked egg. You are supposed to cook the egg FIRST! Disgusting! So I tried again, and again, and again. My wife did the same. We even followed their suggested combinations and they were terrible big bowls of flavorless mush over-powered with salt. Very cool space. Very flawed execution. Save your money and go somewhere else. Pros: Location, Design Cons: Food, Service more

Food is only as good as you make it... 6/20/2005

I agree with the one of the other reviews... the service is some of the worst that I have had in a long time. It took almost 15 minutes to just get someone to great our table and then our food came up before our drinks from the bar. The food is average at best. I didn't like how everyone just reaches into the chicken or beef. Also $1.50 seems like a lot for 4 small shrimp. When I was in Chicago there was a similar concept, FlatTop Grille, which didn't even charge for shrimp. Also, forget this place if you have a large group as it can take a while for everyone to get situated. Would much rather go to a traditional Mongolian BBQ restaurant Pros: Free Parking Cons: Horrible Service, Expensive, Bad Desserts more

Poor Service, Tiny Bar... 6/3/2005

The concept for Chow Baby, though not by any means novel, is a good model for a fun restaurant. Chow Baby doesn't deliver though. The Bar is painfully small, the service was quite possibly the worst I have ever had to endure, and the stir fry was overcooked and dry. The bright spot is the small platesl, quite tasty, and the outdoor seating. Keep in mind- if you take a date or spouse consider getting only one stir fry instead of two because 1) you won' be able to finish and 2) you are not allowed to take home a doggy bag. Pros: oustdoor seating Cons: poor service, no doggy bags more

It's Chow Time in Atlanta 5/12/2005

The Real Chow Baby in West Midtown is a fabulous place to eat Asian food, whether it's a lunch meeting or a late evening Stir Fry craving. The Stir Fry bar is unique, packed with fresh vegetables from all over the world as well as a great selection of sauces, most of which I hear are made from scratch. There are ""Small Plates"" available...little nibbles of potstickers or coconut shrimp. A good accompaniment to all of this is one of a half dozen Asian beers, or for a real kick, try a Sake Mojito. The alcohol is there, believe me...it's just perfectly subtle. And don't forget the Chow Baby Chocolate Cake...I think I tasted mocha in the icing, and it satisfied almost a week's worth of chocolate cravings. The atmosphere is high energy, trendy and modern with fast paced music and a friendly staff and (gasp...) free parking!!! Chow down!! more
