Best French food I never had! 6/7/2006

I wasn't sure about French food before, but I will never doubt it again. My husband and I came on a Saturday night for our wedding anniversary. From the moment we walked in, we had the biggest smiles on our faces. From the bottle of wine to the appetizer, to the lobster bisque, to the salad, to the main course, and then dessert, we were in heaven! The service was spectacular, everyone was very friendly and answered all hundred questions we had. My husband had the venisson for dinner, and I had veal scallopini. Unbelievable! Never had venisson before, and surprisingly enjoyed it. But, the lobster bisque, OUT OF THIS WORLD! We want to go back just for that. So, I guess you can say we liked it. more

Excellent service and very good food. 2/7/2006

Best service in OC. I did not like their decor but it goes with their name. The food was very good. We had the John Dory and the veal chop. The fish was soft, tender and very tasty but the portion was bit small. The veal was just as good but we did not like the sauce because it was sweet. Next time we will have them put it on the side. Pros: Service, Food more

Superb! 9/3/2005

What impressed me most was the wonderful and attentive service. The Maitre D's made us feel like VIP guests. The anticipated our every need before we even had to ask. Beautiful chandeliers were twinkling against the backdrop of the grotto-like atmosphere of the cellar. Very romantic! And the food! The oysters were the best I have ever tasted. The veal was also superb. I would definetly recommend this place to anyone celebrating an anniversary or any other special occasion. I would come here again. more

Perfect Evening 8/24/2005

Food at dinner $68, Wine at Dinner $120, Service $40, Spending a romantic evening with my wife - Priceless. Everything was great, my wife and I spent 3 hours of our anniversary with each other in the "Grotto" of The Cellar. The service was excellent from the beginning. The Matre' de greeted us at the door and escorted us to our table set apart from the whole restaurant. There was 3 waiters that helped us throughout the night and every need was fulfilled. The food was perfect, we enjoyed five courses of the award winning menu. After enjoying the Chateau Brion we got to thank the chef personally as he passed our table. My wife and I would highly recommend the restaurant to anyone who would like to spend a romantic evening with their significant other. more

Wonderful evening 8/16/2005

Other than spending several extra minutes locating the entrance and some time to pass before receiving menus, we had a wonderful romantic evening at The Cellar. I ordered the NY peppered steak and it was, thick and big, seasoned very well and cooked medium rare to perfection. Better than some fine chop houses I've been too. We also ordered the John Dory which is a new item to me and like no fish I have ever tasted. Fabulous. I prefer to drink wine from a snifter rather than their glasses. Waiter didn't mention what they were out of for the evening until we were ready to order. 2 of our selections had to be changed then. The ambience was wonderful. Love the cellar setting with the low roof. Artwork and architecture were pleasing. Be sure to print out the souffle coupon. "mentioning citysearch" like the add states won't cut it. Pros: location, romantic, food more

Romantic dining 8/14/2005

The Cellar has been around for years and is a GREAT local Fullerton favorite. It has a wonderful menu, with lots of variety and a huge wine list. Even the butter for the bread was fantastic. The maitre d's were very professional. The atmosphere is romantic, and there is great seating for couples. The seating for groups is also great. Order the souffle (grand marnier or chocolate) early to ensure it is ready by dessert time. Dress business casual, and make a reservation. Pros: Romantic, Atmosphere, Service Cons: Price more
