Part of the Yale University group of libraries, the Beinecke Library is on the main Yale campus.
Housed in a modern building distinctive for the translucent marble panes that surround it and provide protection from light damage for the rare works within, the library offers the visitor permanent exhibits. The is the Gutenberg Bible and original Audubon bird prints from Audubon’s Birds of America.
There are also special changing exhibits, poetry readings, lectures, concerts and film presentations. The lobby lists future exhibitions which include “Black-listed Authors” and the “Alexis de Tocqueville Bicentenial”.
The courtyard features sculptures by Isamu Noguchi. The library’s collections are accessible through the Public Services Department. Admission to exhibits and displays is free. The library exhibition area is open Mondays through Saturdays.
