Best

Used to live in walking distance to this restaurant. Their Pineapple chicken curry is out of this world. I would be willing to drive from Scappoose to NEP for it (now that we aren...

Worst

I don't know the name of the dish that I ordered...only thing I remember is that the vegitables tasted simply steamed and heavily coated with peanut sauce. I was disappointed. ...

Delicious! 11/15/2005

Fresh food fast. This restaurant has soon become one of my favorites. The service is quick & friendly, the food fantastic! The drunken noodles is one of the best I've ever had, lots of veggies with lick-a-licious sauce clinging to scrumptious fat noodles. Creative drink choices too. Give it a try, you won't be sorry. Pros: price, tasty food, fast service Cons: ?, maybe a little small?, big group? call ahead more

Yum! 10/13/2005

This is my fave Thai place in Portland! Everything is done to perfection. more

Good food at good prices 3/30/2005

I've never eaten Thai food as good as my mom's...however, this place is pretty good. My hubby judges Thai restaurants by their red curry, and he loved it at Thai Noon. The flavor was great and had just the right amount of spice. We also ordered the BBQ chicken and fried fish cakes. They were good, brought back memories of my summer vacations. more

The Perfect Thai Food 2/20/2005

I've been eating and loving Thai food for years now, since I was a girl and my mom's friend (who is Thai) opened a restaurant and had us over as her testers of every new dish! This is my favorite now. I love the sweetness of the Pad Thai, normally, I have to add the lime to give it that extra punch or because the noodles are too dry, but this was perfect. My husband loved it because he is a chili fanatic and it was spicy enough for him (he always order ""Thai hot""). We lived in New Mexico, so developed a taste for the heat! Pros: Great, quiet street, Good service, Delicious! more

Can't beat it! 7/13/2004

I have eaten in nearly every Thai restaurant in Portland (and visited Thailand a number of times) and this place is hands down the best!!! There is no question - if you are looking for fresh, healthy, real-tasting thai food without all the fluff and nonsense of high end eateries...this is the place. I would rate it as one of the best Thai restaurants I have ever eaten at. Pros: Friendly wait staff, Organic food!, Fresh and fast more

Great food! 7/6/2004

This out-of-the-way location was recommended by a friend of mine who was lost in the area one weekend. What a lucky find! The food is amazing. Great, great, really great flavors. Watch out though, when they say spicy they really mean SPICY!! The chicken with cashews was absolutely the best thing we ordered. Nearly as tastey was the special curry with pumpkin. The staff was friendly and the prices what you'd expect from a mid-range thai place. Pros: great food, good service Cons: , spicy more

I'm seeing GREEN! 2/29/2004

Believe it or not, you'll actually get a plate of veggies with a little rice at Thai Noon! Nice to see them embracing greenery unlike so many other Thai restaurants. Their lunch menu can't be beat for the value and quality. This is my new favorite lunch spot. Come one, come all. This place rocks! Pros: , Everything! more

That's Real Thai Food 11/27/2003

Since moving to the N.E. I have had the pleasure of eating at Thai Noon in excess of Twenty times. I lived and worked in Thailand for three years, and this is by far the closest thing I've had to real Thai food here in the U.S. In the beginning the consistency wasn't always there, but the staff and owner bent over backwards to make it right. I don't know what this BigMickey did, but on two seperate occassions we had mistakes on our orders. One time the manager gave me a free voucher for a mistake on take out, and another time the owner comped the entire dinner for me and two friends because it took so long, and I'm not even cute, I'm a big fat guy!! Pros: Food, Service, Location Cons: lines more

Worth The Trip 7/26/2003

Being a resident of Hillsboro, and being a Thai food fanatic does not go together. I am always searching for new Thai Restaurants, and hope to not have to drive to far. On a tip from a reliable Thai Food Critic I made the 45 minute trip to NE Portland to try Thai Noon Restaurant, and I owe my friend big time, This place is incredible. It's not in my backyard, but they can be sure they will see me again. You gotta try the Tom Yum soup, it reminded me of my trip to Thailand and brought back some great memories. This is what food is meant to do, and this place does all that and then some. Pros: Food, service Cons: location (not Hillsbo, wait, get more tables more

Fresh! Fresh! Fresh! 7/20/2003

Did I mention it was fresh! This food is what I wish I could make at home. You gotta try it Pros: Service, Food, atmospher Cons: not enough tables more

Its about time!!! 7/19/2003

Alberta street has needed an alternative place to eat for a Loooonnnnggg time, and Thai Noon has filled the void. We are not only lucky to have a thai restaurant in our neighborhood, but sooooo lucky to have one with such great food. I have been eating there rugularly for more than two months now, and often take friends to check it out. Everyone I have turned on so far has gone back within a week, so this place is doing something right. The service was a little lacking in the beginning, but has improved 110% since I have been going, and where else can you find a thai restaurant that plays good music? Thanks Thai Noon for taking good care of Alberta Street. Pros: FOOD, service, ambiance Cons: no parking, no hard liqs more

stamed veggies? 7/17/2003

I don't know the name of the dish that I ordered...only thing I remember is that the vegitables tasted simply steamed and heavily coated with peanut sauce. I was disappointed. Pros: service, atmosphere Cons: flavor, noise more

Inconsistent Pad Thai 7/17/2003

When Thai Noon opened, I was thrilled. The first time I went for lunch about 2 weeks after they opened. I had the best Pad Thai I've ever had. It was the perfect combination of sweet, sour, salty & spicy! My dining companion got a Tom Ka Gai (chicken/coconut milk soup) that was fantastic. I'm not a coconut milk fan but I had to have my own bowl. Sadly, this was my last good experience. Since then, I've ordered twice for take out. The Pad Thai has never been the same. I have ordered it at least 3 times & every single time, it's different. The rest of the items have been passable but nothing nearly as stellar as our first visit. I think they have potential & the owner seems very nice. However, the inconsistency of the food & the service will surely make them short-lived on Alberta Street. Pros: Tom Ka Gai Cons: Service, Inconsistent recipes, slow more

Deceptive 7/16/2003

Let me start by saying that I love Thai food! I'm a huge fan..and the food at Thai noon is GREAT! HOWEVER, the service is not. The staff should do their homework about the cuisine they are serving. Jobs are hard to come by in PDX right now, and it stinks that such a potentially wonderful little spot has to hire unknowledgeable staff. Servers should honor the cuisine/culture they are representing by actually attempting to care about it. T.N; HIRE SOME TALENT!!!!!! Pros: Great pan nang curry, funky decor, open space Cons: ignorant service, flightly service, nonchalant attitude more

Now That's Service 6/19/2003

Since opening two months ago I have eaten at Thai Noon at least 10 times. The food is consistently fresh and incredibly tasty, and the service is acceptable for a new place. Great service on Alberta is hard to find. With all of that, said I was never inspired to write a review until what I saw last night. A customer came for take out and was apparently handed a bad without everything in it. When the owner realized this he didn't shrug it off and say ""Oh well, they'll be back"", he got in his car and drove around to find the person. He returned about 10 minutes later, and when we asked if he found them he simply replied, ""Another satisfied customer"". This guy knows what customer service is all about. Pros: Fresh, Consistent, Customer Service Cons: Limited Seating, No Reservations more

Some of Portland's Best Thai Food! 6/15/2003

I've traveled extensively in Thailand. When home, I crave REAL Thai cooking. Unfortunately, most restaurants on this side of the Pacific ""dumb down"" their cooking for American tastes. Thai Noon is an exception, with some of the most authentic Thai cooking around. Pad Se-Eiw and Ginger Lovely are two favorites. They also make fantastic Som Tum (green papya salad), a staple Thai dish most Portland restaurants don't have on the menu! I've eaten here weekly since they opened. Cooking has become more consistent; service and wait time have improved tremendously. Very reasonable prices, especially the lunch specials. Crowds during the dinner hours can make it hard to get a table. I recommend calling ahead to verify how busy they are. Thai Noon filled a needed niche in the Alberta neighborhood. Even better if they stayed open into the wee hours of the morning. Curry at 2:30 am? Sign me up! Pros: Food, Location, Friendly Staff Cons: Limited hours, Limited seating more

Unusually Poor Service 6/2/2003

I ordered take out from Thai Noon after reading the Editorial Review here on Citysearch. It's in my neighborhood so I decided to order take out. I called and ordered three side dishes and an app. I asked how long it would be and they said 20 - 30 minutes. I gave them plenty of time, showing up about 40 minutes later. I didn't get my food until it had been an hour and ten minutes. The staff blamed a ""rush"" (on a Monday night). I was very disappointed that the staff was so unorganized. The order that I got wasn't even right (even though they had obviously cooked it after the ""rush""). I got three chicken dishes even though I had ordered a vegetarian Pad Thai, a pork dish and only one chicken dish. Sigh. Pros: Location Cons: Service, Professionalism more

Stuffed chicken wings to die for 5/18/2003

These are huge! A must have unique dish. You will find all of the dishes truly Thai. My mouth thought that I was back in Asia. Pros: Unique Dishes, Fresh, Great spices Cons: Needs some music more
