Amazing sushi at a reasonable price 1/18/2006

Am not usually a fan of any revolving sushi places but this place changed my mind. The fish here is really fresh! And there are so many choices to pick from! If you don't see what you like, just ask the gentleman behind the sushi counter and they'll whip you any sushi you want. Come here before 8.30pm ( or was it 9pm?) though. That's when they stop making as many sushi. Pros: good value, delicious, good parking more

Not Your Father's Sushi Boat 1/30/2005

Excellent, fresh, fast, reasonably priced. Most ""sushi boat"" type restaurants in America can be mediocre. But, not Sushi Maru. It's on par with, or better than, many of the ""kuru kuru"" (conveyor/boat) type sushi restaurants I've eaten at in Japan. The customers, who are mostly Japanese, apparently agree, as it is often filled to capacity. Do yourself a favor, and give it a try. more

very average 7/18/2003

i went here b/c i couldn't believe a sushi boat restaurant was rated so high...well, i was right. i've made better tempura at home. sushi was old and rubbery. service was decent though. as sushi boats go, it's not bad, but the one in mtn view, castro street is better. Pros: sushi boat Cons: sushi more

keep going back 12/30/2002

My husband and I come here whenever we crave Japanese food. We have been regular customers (maybe once a month) for almost 4 years. I get items off the sushi boat; he usually chooses the dinner bento box. The food is consistently excellent. Everything is fresh and a great value. The sushi boat has a nice variety of choices, and there is often something new. We can dress up or dress down; the atmosphere is friendly and service quick. We've been in and out in under an hour before. They also play an interesting mix of music -- from Japanese to Latin American to New Age to pop. Love this place! Pros: reasonable prices, freshness of sushi, good parking more

so many selection! 11/30/2002

usually sushi on a boat is not good quality cuz it sits there and becomes dry. but here the stuff is fresh, many different kinds (some not even sushi) going around on the boat, most of the sushi makers are japanese too, and the portions are large. and hey, i'm japanese so you have to give my opinion some credit. Pros: price, selection, easy parking more

Bay area favorite 11/1/2002

Sushi maru has a one of the largest varieties of sushi on its sushi boat. Food are delicious. Try their mikey roll. This is our favorite place in the bay area next to matsu in hunnington beach. Pros: Best sushi, authentic, delicious more

REALLY the best in Bay area 8/16/2002

I've been to many Japanese restaurants and this is in fact our favorite. It has one of the best sushi bars with most variety that you never see anywhere else. Service is pretty friendly. Food is GREAT. I've been to so many japanese restaurants that makes me wonder why they even have customers inside. No other restaurant can compare to this when it comes to variety in their sushi bar. This place is really the best, need I say more? Pros: Sushi bar, everthing more
