I had been searching the valley for a good eye doc since I retired from the military. I had seen a lot of OD's in both the Air Force and the Navy. When I retired I wanted to wear contacts, but 8 or 9 other docs had either misdiagnosed my eyes, or recommended prescriptions I didn't need or solutions that wouldn't work. I left several pair of glasses and contacts at eye places all over town. Then I made an appointment w/ Dr. Stipek who was recommended to me by a friend. He was very personable and friendly. He was MUCH more thorough than any other ophthalmologist I had seen, even the Air Force docs who are pretty tough on pilot?s eyes. He spent at least twice as much time in my initial examination as any other doc ever, and he was meticulous. He saw an injury on my right eye that I had caused when I was 8 or 9 years old. No one else had ever seen or mentioned it. He even suggested that it may have been caused by a BB (which it was. Yep, you really can shoot your eye out with one of those things). He suggested that I use a graduated trifocal lens which I thought was a bit much, but I found myself using those upper sections of my glasses about 7 or 8 months later. If you want a good eye doc, there are probably a few around town, but if you want a GREAT ophthalmologist, you should go see Dr. Stipek.
Pros: Very easy to talk with, listens to you and is VERY thorough
Cons: Only one office, but worth the trip.
