Could be Better, Could be Worse 3/20/2010

If you are a typical teenager looking to buy a cheap prom dress covered in sequins and made out of the brightest and most unflattering material possible, this is the perfect place for you. The selection of high quality elegant dresses is very limited. Pros: Large selection, the store is easy to find Cons: Large selection of crap, can't take pictures more

Best place in Puget Sound area to buy a formal dress 10/9/2009

I have shopped at Samila's off and on for about 8 years. My two daughters have bought Homecoming and Prom dresses there. For many years, we would start out shopping in the malls and various stores, but we would always end up at Samila's where we would purchase a dress. Now, we just start there and usually find something right away. We have referred numerous friends there, and they have always purchased a dress. The quality of dresses and variety of choices can't be found anywhere else. Pros: Love the quality and selection; also the personal service. more

Terrible selection and rude employees 5/12/2009

I went here with my friend after school to look for our senior prom dresses. Right when we walked in I was shocked to see the terrible quality of the dresses. We walked around for 10 minuets before one of the rude employees came from somewhere and started to tell us what size we were and what would look good on us. The quality and the prices did not match at all, the dresses where tacky and gaudy while the prices were rather expensive. I was shocked to see so many hideous dresses in one place..... don't go here if you want a classy and beautiful gown. Pros: nothing Cons: Tasteless, tacky, rude, and just plain hideous. more

Excellent Service 3/24/2009

As soon as I walked in the door I was greeted promptly. The owner just looked at me and guessed my size. I told her the general style I was looking for and the price range and 3 colors I like. I tried on at least 20 dresses! They were very helpful. I found two perfect dresses and it was tough to decide! After everything it only took me an hour and a half. Excellent customer service. The owner has had this place a long time and been in this business so she knows what she is doing. My only advice is to just listen to it. They may be a bit pricy but its what you get when you go to a small shop with excellent service. Pros: They know what they are doing! Cons: Pricy more

Wonderful Experiences 2/7/2009

Several years ago I bought a dress for my senior prom and had a great experience. So when it came time to pick out a dress for my wedding I remembered to go to this place. I can see why some people don't like it. But I thought that the sales people were very helpful they make the process very speedy and painless. When I found the perfect dress (the first one i tried on!) they pined all the alterations I needed. (small waist big bust) and after all was said and done it was about $550 which for a wedding dress is extremely cheap. I love this place and I will go back there next time a I need a formal dress! more

samilas botique 5/5/2008

this place was great and the service was amazing. My dress was beautifull and so was my sisters. I will definatly go there again. The employees were great and very helpfull. They kept there store open an hour late for me when I was there a week ago. If yor looking for a great dress and wonderful service. GO HERE!!!! Pros: they had wonderfull service and dresses more

awful boutique experience 4/18/2008

All of the people who gave excellent reviews must have gone when there were either no other customers or only one other because when I went I had an awful experience. There were at least three other girls in the store when I went in. I had a very specific dress in mind and even though they did not have it, I still looked around since I had already made the trek over there. The owners were very snotty and I believe that one of the reasons that I did not receive good customer service was because I was in sweats. Just because I wasn't dressed super nice, does NOT mean that I did not have money to spend! The dress that I wanted was about $400 and if they had it in my size I would have bought it on the spot. more

BEST EXPERIENCE AND DRESSES!!! 4/18/2008

My best friend and I were prom dress shopping and we went to Samila. When we first walked in we already saw gorgeous dresses and we were helped immediately. They took us to the section that we wanted with our sizes and we immediately picked out 5 dresses that we loved. The staff handed us the dress ready to put on and they were there to zip us up and help the entire time! Some people might think its rude but the staff told you like it was! If the dress was not you they would be honest with you and not try and sell it to you. They would also tell you if the dress was just to small but in a nice manner and it was the truth. You may be a size 4 but for me i have a huge bust and ended up in the 8's because of this, so be open minded. We ended up walking away with our perfect prom dresses and a wonderful experience! Pros: Dresses and service, UNIQUE! and dresses price right! Cons: Not much parking if busy, but parking in easy walking distance more

go here if you want to find the dress 4/17/2008

I walked into samilas on a thursday afternoon hoping i would find the perfect dress for my senior prom. when i walked in i was greeted by one of the ladies working at the time she took one look at me and led me to the section of dresses in my size, immediatly she started pulling dresses from the designated closet for me to try on. I tried on about 6 dresses but i stuck with the first dress i tried on. the service was great they help you with everything you need from finding the dress to putting it on to any alterations it may need. thanks to samilas i am going to feel like the princess i have always wanted to be for my senior prom. Pros: everything Cons: prices more

Beautiful, One of A Kind Dresses, would not go anywhere else for a formal gown 3/26/2008

I went to Samila boutique on a friend's reccomendation that they would have one of a kind dresses that are absolutely beautiful. I was very excited to finally get a homecoming gown that I loved and that fit me like a glove. They started out by guessing my size, I appear to be about a size four, but am also hippy so I ended up trying sizes 4-8. They assured me that the dresses I tried on could be altered to hug my waist, as the sz. 8s were much too large around my waist. I ended up trying on several gowns, all of which were beautiful until I found the perfect one! The dress that I chose was a sz 8 and needed a lot of alterations in which the ladies personaly took measurements for. I was told that my dress would be ready for me to try in two weeks and it was done on time in a professional manor. These women take good care of thier dresses to keep them new for future customers, any beading that is mistakenly undone is fixed before that dress is sold to you. I was so happy with my dress that I went back for prom and found another dress that I fell in love with. They will make you feel special in your new dress and provide an honest opinion of how you look to ensure that you've picked the best dress for you. (ie: your body type, coloring, event etc.) I would without a doubt reccomend Samila boutique to anyone looking for a dress, they even sell accesories and shoes to go along with the gown of your choice. Go in with an open mind, these women know what they're talking about and will not steer you wrong. Good luck with your dress shopping experience! :) Pros: customer service, selection, beautiful dresses, easy alteration (they do it for you), wonderful experience, I cannot see anyone walking out without a gown they love Cons: parking is at times difficult and watch for the one-way streets in Redmond more

Great Selection, Well Organized, Great Service 3/26/2008

It was hard to conivnce my mom to drive for about 2 hours to look for a dress at Samila's Boutique but after I convinced her and we went down there and looked she is glad we did. The dress selection was amazing! there were a lot of dresses and they were organized by size so it was really easy to find the right dress. The service was really good also. They let you choose dresses and also recommended certain dresses. Their choices were really good as well. Most of the other girls there including myself went with a dress chosen by an employee. My experience there was so wonderful, I am even very surprised that anyone had an experience that wasn't just as enjoyable! Pros: Organization, selection, quality, and the bathrobes!!! Cons: parking, but it wasn't that bad more

time and money well spent.....awsome customer service 2/25/2008

What a wonderful experice me and my daughter had, from the moment we walked in we were both amazed at all the dresses. We were there looking for a gown for my daughters senior prom,So finding the perfect dress was very important! I was so impressed with the sisters one being the owner,They were AWSOME! Cons: not much parking more

Worst service I have EVER experienced! 2/11/2008

My best friend and I went to Samila Boutique looking for our Prom dresses. We walked into the boutique and wandered around looking at dresses for a good ten minutes before anyone said a word to us. I am very petite and at the time I was a size 4 in dresses, but am very busty, so it can be deceiving, but not this deceiving. When the owner finally got around to greeting us she very rudely told me that I was looking in the wrong size and proceeded to escort me over to the size 12 section! I was shocked that someone would be so bold as to tell a stranger that they didn't know their own dress size! Not to mention that she suggested dresses that were 4 sizes too big! Of course it made me feel horrible, and we left immediately. Pros: They had a great selection of dresses. Cons: They claim to have one-of-a-kind dresses but their dresses can be found at any other dress store! Also, the service was really bad. more

Avoid on weekends 10/13/2007

I deffinatly reccomend Samila's to my friend. Actually, I've recommended it to EVERYONE! i love love loveeee my dress! the sales staf is amazing they've memorized all 3000 dresses they have (they dont use a computer at all) anddd every dress is unique so if you like a dress in another size your out of luck but they have a million more adorable dresses so its all good. Also my dress looks like its for the red carpet but it was only $240 which is cheap for formal gowns. so DEFFINATLY go there! more

Excellent selection, Excellent service 10/4/2007

Me and my daughter walked in Samila's boutique on a Saturday. The store was packed. Everybody was buying a different dress. They have over 3000 dresses all hanging in bags, so they don't get damaged. The dresses are all different and unique. They have shoes and accessories to go with the dress. When you walk in the store, they know what your size is because of the experience they have. They dress up approximately 1000 girls a year for different occasions from home coming to prom to Tolo to any special occasions like holidays or pageants. I would definitely recommend to have them pick a dress for you if you want to be different and one of a kind for your special night; the staff that work there know all the dresses and what looks good on who. So if you trust them which I would recommend, let them pick a dress for you. You just have to tell them what kind of price you are looking for. Me and my daughter were very pleased and the service was excellent. I would definitely go there for that one special unique dress. Pros: Service, Parking more

GREAT SERVICE!!!!!!! 9/21/2007

I VERY surprised about the reviews below. I went to Samila Boutique 1 year ago. I was looking for a ""different"" formal dress for a black tie party that I was going to. By chance I came upon this store, so my husband and I drove down from British Columbia to check it out. When we arrived Samila greeted us and questioned exactly what I was looking for. Like stated in the reviews below this is a very small store with hundreds of dresses all zip into plastic bags. I was looking for a short dress, she started to bring out dresses and one by one and I tried them on keeping the ones that were maybes and giving the ones I didn't like back to be packaged up. Then she suggested that I try on some long dresses. Almost all the dresses long & short looked amazing!!! I found the most beautiful red dress with a very low scooped back with low cut v in the front with sequins, and (as a back up) a black dress which was short and also had sequins. The red dress had to be altered and because we were only staying in Seattle for the night and the store was closed on Sundays, Samila had the dress altered and we came back the next day Sunday to pick it up. SHE opened her store just for us!!! Well I tell you, that I went to this formal party and I was the knock out of the party. EVERYONE LOVED my dress and there was nothing even close to it. My husband was very happy too! He stated that when our daughter needs a grad dress we know where we will be going, ""SAMILA's""!!! So I will definately go back. In fact next month in October we will be there. Can't wait to share this very unique experience with my daughter. Thanks again for the GREAT SERVICE!!!! Pros: Friendly accomodating service Cons: Not close to me more

Horrible service, rude employees. 5/10/2007

My mom and I went in to look for a prom dress i found online as soon as we walked in the workers were rude and treated us like we were stupid. I told the lady that I had a model number from the internet and she looked at me and responded ""that doesn't help me at all, what do you think i have every dress on file in a computer?"" That would've been the reasonable thing to do, but we thought maybe she was just rushed. They only had a size four which I told the ladies I definitely was not, they insisted I try it on anyway and when I did it obviously did not fit. Then they pressured us to look through the store for another dress checking up on us every five minutes. Once I found a dress I wanted the ladies were very rude and contradicted each other on what type of alterations should be made to my dress. My mom wanted to put the dress on hold because the ladies were very rude and the dress was overpriced, she wanted to look for other dresses and come back for that one as a last resort. Although the dress was gorgeous, the extremely rude service made the experience of shopping for the perfect prom dress miserable. Alterations are extremely OVERPRICED, my dress almost cost me $600 because of alterations that merely cost us $30 at a local tailor. Also, all the ""high quality silk"" dresses are in plastic bags clumped together in tiny little racks. The shop is so crowded and everything is piled on top of each other to give off a very low class dumpy feeling. If you want good service and enjoyable prom dress experience DON'T GO TO SAMILA BOUTIQUE. Pros: Some good dresses Cons: Extreme alteration prices, worst possible service, low class atmosphere more

Worst Boutique I've ever been to 5/4/2007

This place looks like an old, dingy pink house and the employers are incredibly rude. When you walk in, they will ask for your size and lead you to the area that contains your size. Then when you want to try something on, they leave the curtain wide open for others to see to make sure that you don't tarnish the gowns. If you're not satisified, of course they will help you pick out a dress, but they get very very impatient with you. After you try on the third dress, and every dress after that, they will tell you that you look beautiful in it. I felt SO pressured to buy a dress from them that, at the end I just told them to put it on hold and I will come back for it the next day, and I never did. If you come here, you will feel ALOT of pressure from them to buy a gown, which is way overpriced anyway. I owned one of the gowns that they were selling by Niki Livas and I only spent 100$ on it, while they charged theirs for 270$. They also asked me for my price range, I said 200-300$ and the lady said I won't find much selection here then. They also charge way too much for measurements and alterations. DON'T SHOP HERE IF YOU WANT AFFORDABLE PRICING AND GREAT CUSTOMER SERVICE. more

The place is satisfactory 4/29/2007

I went shopping with my daughter to look for a prom dress, there were so many beautiful dresses and they have a lot of variety of different styles; however I felt the dresses were overpriced, you will need to focus on the workmanship of the dresses to ensure there are not any snags and to make sure the beads, sequence and the seams are hemed. To charge customers $300 and up for a dress should be in excellent condition. I also felt that the fees for the alteration was costly, I would strongly recommend to have the dress alter elsewhere due to the time constraint they are not staff to support the prom season. The place is small so allow yourselves enough time and be prepared to stand in long lines if you are a last mintue shopper. The overall service was satisfactory. Pros: Variety of different styles Cons: A few of the dresses lacked in workmanship more

NEVER COME HERE 4/14/2007

If you are looking for a nice dress there for prom or any formal dances, then DO NOT go to Samila Boutique! They are so rude there! The women there were like, "" What is your price range?"" and I said somewhere under $100 or $200. And they said,"" well the dress we have here are nothing compared to your price range. If you want to find a dress under $100 then you might as well go to the mall and all the little stores like JCPenny. Our price are reasonable because our dresses are pure silk."" And im thinking to myself if they're pure silk then why do they look EXACTLY like the dresses from JcPenny or Macys. It was a waste of time for me to drive all the way there to a cramped up store. I highly recommend that you DO NOT buy your dresses there. Pros: they would have about 2 dresses that you'd probably want Cons: no great service, very rude. Seemed like they were a waste of their time more
