Best

The sushi is the freshest in town. The staff is friendly and considerate. They never fail to greet us by name and there is always a special dessert that we recieve, on the house...

Worst

I was disappointed in the sushi. There was barely any fish in what we received. Some bites had no fish in them whatsoever. Very disappointing. The godzilla roll was decent. It was...

great sushi rolls 5/17/2008

i have frequented this place for a couple of years now. despite sometimes grouchy waitresses that speak little english, i keep coming back for more. the rolls are fairly priced and are very good. i highly recommend the crunchy shrimp roll. their specials on the front white board are also always great. the atmosphere is a little bit cheesy (there are prices written on printer paper stuck on the things hanging on the walls) and i wouldn't recommend it for a romantic date but it is a great place to catch up with friends or go with a family. also, the wait isn't usually that bad. Pros: good sushi, good location, easy parking Cons: service, atmosphere more

Great Sushi, a must visit. 2/14/2008

The sushi is the freshest in town. The staff is friendly and considerate. They never fail to greet us by name and there is always a special dessert that we recieve, on the house of course. Some earlier reviewers had comments about the waitress being hard to understand. Well for me, I don't quite trust a Japanese restaurant that does not have Japanese cooks and wait staff. That is kind of like going to a Mexican restaurant and having your food cooked and served by Italians. Also, if you are not intelligent enough to realize that the server is saying shrimp, then you are not intelligent enough to rate the restaurant. Pros: Authenticity, Fresh Food more

Where's the fish? 5/26/2007

I was disappointed in the sushi. There was barely any fish in what we received. Some bites had no fish in them whatsoever. Very disappointing. The godzilla roll was decent. It was very spicy and I couldn't even get a refill of my water. Miyako in Brentwood is ten times better. On another note, I could barely inderstand the waitress. Since the sushi menu doesn't tell you what's in the rolls, I had to ask the waitress. I kept hearing her say 'simp'. Finally, I asked what simp was thinking it might be some kind of fish only to figure out she was saying shrimp. We got the roll that had tuna and 'simp' in it and there was no shrimp in the roll and barely any tuna. Pros: Beer was fresh Cons: No fish in sushi more

alaskan roll (where's the fish?) 3/27/2007

I decided to check this place out because it was close to work. From the second I walked in I felt like I was bothering them, they were too busy to help me? All of the sushi cooks were short and acted like any question was a stupid one. Pros: They sell sushi Cons: They do it poorly more

Good, but not great 11/1/2006

The sushi is pretty original and they have a lot of choices, sake selection is slim and the price is high for cold sake, the wait staff is slow most of the time, don't try the unagi - it's really not that good. Overall it is good, try the sushi with crunchy and mango...it is pretty tasty! Pros: Orginality, quality fish, house dressing Cons: Slow service, price, unagi more

Love it! 8/17/2006

Sake is definitely one of the best sushi places in Nashville/Franklin. Sushi is incredibly fresh and delicious every time. Highly recommend the salmon rolls and the michael crunchy roll. Spicy tuna roll is also the best in middle tennessee. I eat here usually about 3 times a week, but stick to take out. Atmosphere is not my favorite, but who cares-the food is amazing. Pros: amazing taste, parking, take out Cons: atmosphere is so-so more

Enjoyed food (veg sushi rolls), great house dressing, decent service, less than cozy atmosphere 7/31/2006

After reading these reviews, I still went to Sake, and enjoyed my visit. Granted, I get vegetable sushi rolls, so I cannot defend the amount of fish in the other rolls. We were in and out within 30 minutes (lunch hour), friendly service, fairly priced. The atmosphere is very small, boxy, and uninteresting. However, I will go back. Pros: Good food, big portions, Great house soup and salad with meal. Cons: Boring atmosphere more

Good food, crappy service 5/22/2006

I love their food and I have to disagree with everyone else. They served our food very fast, however, the staff isnt very friendly. I would recommend though, the prices are good and so is the sushi! Pros: Good Sushi, Good Prices Cons: bad service more

Great People, Great Food 2/16/2006

The waitresses are all incredibly attentive and polite. The food is excellent and the prices are great! If you go, you HAVE to have the Dragon Roll. I'm addicted! Pros: Fresh Food, Great Prices, Very Friendly Staff Cons: Not very romantic more

Wild Salmon or Farm Grown? 1/20/2006

The question of the day when I visited Sake. The waitress had no idea what I was talking about and neither did the sushi chef. So then I ask if they have any blue fin today. Again, I get puzzled looks from the staff. LOL. Some sushi bar... Pros: parking, inexpensive Cons: Incompetents, Not Authentic, Poor Quality food more

Good Food, Good Price 10/4/2004

I've been eating at Sake since it opened some years ago in Franklin and even though I have the rare occassion of a run in with some not so well done food, it has never been anything to warrant not coming back. The prices are reasonable and even though service may take a bit longer than your average sushi resturant, at least I always know it will be fresh. I highly recommend this place, even though the smallness of size and simple decor (along with the staff conversing regularly in japanese) may distract some people, I find it no distraction at all. Pros: good food, good prices Cons: , simple decor more

Poor Service 1/2/2004

The sushi is good if you want to wait 30 minutes to an hour!! And they aren't even busy. There can be one other table and still you have to wait. The pricing is high too. Every other sushi place in Nashville serves you within 10 minutes!! more

Not cheap sushi - expensive rice! 6/27/2003

SLOW to serve - QUICK to disappoint! The two rolls we got were ALL rice. One of them (sushi pizza) had so little crab, that it wouldn't register on a digital scale! We called the manager over, SURE that the chef had mistakingly left it out...He said ""Oh, Yeah, that how we make it!"" and he promptly left our table. The Michael Crunch Roll should be called the Michael ""Aint got no Fish In It Roll""...They don't have the cheapest sushi in town - they have the most expensive rice!!! Shameful Pros: clean, new, leaving Cons: FRUSTRATINGLY SLOW, Left feeling Robbed!, Waste of time & money more

Thumbs Up! 5/20/2003

Clean new building. Not much to look at on the outside or inside. But if you want the overall best sushi for the money in Nashville or this side of the Mississippi this is the place. Best rolls in Nashville. Sushi is not bad either. The ""best prices"" of any Sushi Japanese Restaurant in Tennessee. The only thing lacking is the service. A little slow. Pros: Inexpensive, Good parking Cons: Small tables, Slow service more
