Yeah, yeah, yeah...I heard you. You just tried to say your favorite upscale frenchy fix can only be satisfied at the one, the only: Fleur de Lys. But really, it's a recession we'r...

Worst

I've been to Rue a few times and have really enjoyed the food, so when I took my parents and girlfriend out for my moms b-day, I felt like I'd be taking them to a fun little place...

Very cute little restaurant in an unexpected residential area. The prices are fair, the food is very good. The service is very friendly and efficient and the amibience is elegant, yet cozy and casual. The managament team is very attentive to your comfort and satisfaction, you feel that you're becoming a ""member"" of a French club, it's really cool. It has an intimate feel to it. The combination of all this will make us go back very soon ! Pros: Food, Ambience, Service Cons: Parking more

Depends on what you order 12/2/2005

Our group had a couple of good appetizers and a couple of so-so ones. The foie gras was buttery, seared just right and delicious. The escargot and mushroom risotto were very good. For entrees, the veal cheeks was served over mashed potatoes and vegts. The cheeks were tasty & tender. The duck was fair and the filet mignon was undercooked. They offered a prix fixe 3 course meal with soup du jour or salad, entree of chicken or salmon & dessert of creme brulee or choc cake for only $25. The strawberry soup dessert was my favorite, but skip the nougatine glace and choc gateau. They have a very nice wine selection & we liked our Lyeth merlot for $30. Total meal with one bottle of wine was approx $200. Service was excellent. Pros: service, ambience, reasonable prices Cons: parking, dessert more

Great food in a good atmosphere 9/2/2005

This place disproves the rule that a half-empty restaurant indicates poor food. We had it on our list to check out and finally went on a Friday night. Found it less than half-full but hey, no wait. Great wine list, but would have liked more choices by-the-glass. It was easy to make up our mind on the menu and everything was great, all 2x3 dishes were very tasty. Only nit was the mashed potato with my filet mignon, which could have been more exciting. And the filet wasn't exactly medium-rare like I ordered but it was very tender and juicy. Service was very friendly and attentive, despite a few comical mix-ups. I think they just need a little more experience, but their hearts are in the right place. Pros: quality, wine list, ambience more

Too good to be true? 7/16/2005

An amazing, quint restaurant. Simple yet, warm, elegant, without being pretentious. Food, service and atmosphere are great! On my third visit, Bastille day, I was happily surprised to see the place so jammed. Glad I made reservation. They offered a prix fixe menu, $40, quite a bargain if you ask me, with the option of wine pairing for $15. The red mullet couldn't taste better, nice and just a bit crispy on the outside, perfectly moist inside...a true delicacy; the foie gras was awsome, the endive salad with croutons and blue cheese was a great way to start a meal, light, flavorful; the rack of lamb...just divine. The portions are very generous. That night was fun. They had a D.J mixing french music...everyone seemed to be enjoying the french celebration. The servers although very busy, still managed to always smile and take good care of us. As usual. Great job! Pros: Warm, nice ambiance, great food, service, great value more

A Must Visit 6/17/2005

We enjoyed this restaurant immensely. The food was beautiful and the food suprising. The service was genuinely warm. We'll return for seconds. Pros: food, price, service more

Finally a GREAT restaurant at this address! 6/8/2005

After suffering through 3 bad restaurants over the last 9 years, the Nob/Russian Hill neigbhors are celebrating the arrival of Rue St. Jacques w/ relief & excitment. Actually, we are rubbing our tummies in contentment! Though there is no sign on its door yet, it already has a loyal following of neighbors, including Willie Brown. The menu is very French, rich and absolutely delicious. With entrees like filet mignon with seared foie gras bits and sauce, please, for your heart's sake, wash it down with a glass of red from their selection of over 100 CA and French wines. Very attentive and friendly service! Owners Eric and Sylvain personally remodeled the space with their own hands. The neighbors' biggest worry now: once the word gets out, parking will be even worse! So, please be kind to the neighbors and take the Hyde Street cable car to Rue St. Jacques. Pros: good value, great meat dishes, attentive service more

Just passed by 6/7/2005

Just passed by with my fiancee, got attracted by the romantic outfit of the place, read the menu and decided to give it a shot. Had an unexpected time. The atmosphere itself would have made my night, but the food ended up being superb. The owner told me on the way out that they have been open for only a month. I feel sorry I will only be able to go back next summer. We had a very pleasant walk in the area after. Nob Hill with its San francisco Night Views is something I will never forget. more

A Little Romance 6/5/2005

Off the beaten track, but accessible by Cable Car, a quiet corner of romance, charm and excellent cuisine awaits discovery. The escargot was the best I've ever had and the foie gras melted into the top of my filet mignon was magnificent. My favorite dish so far is the veal cheeks but I still haven't explored the whole menu. The service is perfection and someone who really knows their stuff put together the wine list. Even the moderately priced by-the-glass selections are superb. The value for the dollar here can't be beat. Cons: Parking difficult more

Very nice 6/1/2005

I read about this new restaurant in the Chronicle and decided to give it a shot. I was pleasantly surprised: the food was excellent and the service very friendly. The bill was a great surprise too (inexpensive, especially for that neighborhood). I have nothing bad to say. Pros: service, food, value more

Great new restaurant 5/19/2005

I ate here with my wife a couple weeks ago and we had a great meal. The wine list goes very will with the food as well. Try it out! more
