Best

Best Steak in Town. Top sirloin can't be beat. It doesn't have as much fat as a New York steak and Ribeye. The jacketed yam is great with cinnamon butter. Come during lunch an...

While the food at Ruby River isn't too bad, I must strongly disagree with it being called ""romantic."" If you find this place very romantic, maybe it is time to call a babysitte...

Lousy service matches food 1/21/2003

Ruby River is atrocious. They are extremely overpriced and theire so-called cooks are incapable of serving a piece of meat without charring it into oblivion. Their kids' meals are $8 and my son said, ""I'm still starving"" after eating his entire meal. If you want comparable quality, go to Desert Star and save at least half of your money. If you want a great steak that is actually cooked the way you orer it, go to Outback or Black Angus. If you insist on trying Ruby River, do yourself a favor and order your steak extra extra extra rare. Maybe then you'll at least get it served medium. Pros: Free peanuts, no e-coli, beats starvation Cons: Burned Steaks, Country music, Ripoff pricing more

Marginal at Best 1/13/2003

My wife and I were very disappointed in our dining experience at Ruby River. We started with the coconut shrimp, $8.99, for an appetizer. All five of them arrived a little later, obviously frozen and prebattered. I think I saw the same frozen shrimp at Wal-Mart for the 1/5 the price. The steak was OK, but not at all worth the price they charge. The atmosphere was nice, but it would be nice if they had atleast decent food to go with it. We will not be back. Atleast we know. Pros: Location, Service Cons: Expensive, Poor food more

Spencers rated #2 in SLC 1/13/2003

Baci is a Italian Resturant with probably 1 or 2 steaks max on the menu. Outside of Sambi Grill the others are chains with common steaks. Spencers rib eye is to die for! Pros: Quality, Service, Wine list Cons: Prices more

Steak-a-licious 1/3/2003

This is the best steakhouse that I have been to in Salt Lake City. The food is excellent. I have tried several of their steaks and I can't complain about any of them. They also have the best service of any steakhouse I have been to. (including those in California and Arizona) The western style decorations are nice and it's a bit pricey for my budget but I go whenever I can. I would rate this place at number 1. Pros: Good Food, Good Service, Atmosphere Cons: Small Parking lot, Expensive, Far from Home more

yum yum yams & beer 1/3/2003

Has always been the tastiest food and good flavored beers. Very original and quite tasty yams. Steaks always the way you ask for them, not the cooks version of your request. Wonderfully warm, cozy and comfortable western atmosphere. Very friendly staff. Always a pleasure to visit. Pros: good food, cozy atmosphere, friendly staff Cons: limited parking, no smoking areas, expensive more

Best steak 12/16/2002

I love steak sauce, i could eat a leather boat with steak sauce and filet mignon is usually so tasteless I have to. But the seasoning on the bacon-wrapped filets are so good it is the first filet I have not needed steak sauce. Pros: great steaks Cons: no vegitarian dishes more

no way ! 12/4/2002

i can not believe that ruby river is on your top steak house list ! i would never have believed it ! i have bean to ruby river 3 times "" 2 because they wer party invitations "" and each time the steaks i was served was not only lacking flavor but was...well shall i say not very tender by any means! it was not just a one time thing as i said ive bean 3 times and rubys has always bean the same. there food all in all is nothing special, and at the prices they are charging i think i shall or would rather stay home cook my own moist and tender stks and save a ton of money while im at it. give me carvers ! the newyorker ! anywhere but rubys for a fine dine pricey stk house nite out !!!! just my opinion guys ! Pros: atmossphere, convieent locaction Cons: food not that good, price to high, not good value !!!!!! more

Romantic? Maybe if you have 8 kids... 10/17/2002

While the food at Ruby River isn't too bad, I must strongly disagree with it being called ""romantic."" If you find this place very romantic, maybe it is time to call a babysitter and leave the kids at home. more

Very Disappointing 10/11/2002

Have tried it twice. Both times I got a steak that was tough and flavorless. I hope this isn't really where Utahns go for ""a good steak."" Basically this is Sizzler with better decor. Pros: pleasant atmosphere Cons: bland, tough steaks more

Best for the buck 10/4/2002

The steaks at RR are amazing. And I am not sure what it is that they do to their potatoes, but they are awesome. I think it is proably the best steak around for the price. more

The greatest filet in Salt Lake - you've gotta try it! Pros: Excellent food, Good service more

great steak but no BBQ 9/6/2002

Ruby River is a great steak house but they don't have a clue about BBQ. Any restaurant that does not have a wood fired smoker does not do BBQ more

It's alright 9/3/2002

I thought the food was, okay. I find other steakhouses much better, but there are also some a lot worse. It was mediocre. more
