I have been a frequent customer at this amazing place. Its family friendly and service is great. They deliver too!! And you get the papadam (crunchy crackers). Ask for the chef recommendations and off the grill for healthy eaters. I ordered the Royal Mixed grill and they bought the dish out in a steaming hot plate and smelled and tasted exquisite. According to the owner its one of the first and oldest Indian Restaurant in new haven and their experience shows in their food. I have tried other Indian Restaurant and their Chicken Tikka Masala but nothing has compared it to Royal India, the chicken justs melts in your mouth and since I like fire, they can cook the food to your preference from mild american spicy to hot indian spicy. A nice dinner here with basmati rice and Chicken Tikka with a king-fisher beer will make it all worthwhile. Go now and see for yourself...Stacey Pros: Finger Licking indian food with good value. Cons: parking is off site at broadway but they will stamp your ticket. more

I went to eat there for the first time and looking to the menu found that prices are fair. Service is also nice, treat kids nicely. Free papad (with onion chutney)as appetizer or may be because I purchased one bear. Gulab-jamun as desert for free. Friendly service. Pros: Excellent service, Closest pay-parking., Nice lunch-buffet Cons: Get proper direction. more

Best Indian Food in CT...maybe anywhere! 6/13/2005

The hardest part about going to Royal India is deciding what to get. For meat eaters, the Royal Mixed Grill can't be beat. For veggies, the Veggie Thali, Saag Paneer, or Mattar Paneer are great... heck, EVERYTHING on the menu is amazing. Thalis are great if you can't make up your mind. Poori is deep fried bready goodness, but don't miss out on the tandoor breads like aloo paratha (naan stuffed with potatoes, mint, and peas), or just the plain naan. It's all lovely, and inexpensive too (giant dinner for 4 = $60 plus tip). Save room for kheer (rice pudding) or gulab jamun (deep fried sugar bomb). Can't wait to go back. Pros: Amazing food, Great prices, Cute little house Cons: I live too far away., Sigh! more
