I bought my house in April 2010 and had an alarm installed around June. The garage door stopped working when the alarm was installed. After about 5 different people from the alarm company came out, finally it appeared the door was fixed. To prove it, the alarm supervisor kept opening and closing the garage door. Then BOOM! The motor exploded. I thought for sure I would need a whole new motor and was very upset that the guy kept opening and closing the door (of course then claiming it would not be the alarm companies fault if I needed a new motor). I found Rocket Garage Door Service name in the Advocate, a local magazine I trust. The owner, Tom, came out that very afternoon and I was prepared for the bad news that I needed a new motor (and then anticipating a heated discussion with the alarm company as to whose fault it was and who would pay for it). Well to my relief, Tom said all I needed was one new part for $60. I was impressed by his honesty since I was about 99% sure I needed a whole new system. The old motor finally gave out a few days ago (7 months later). I called Tom and he came the next day to check it out. He was able to get me a very good deal on a new motor and it is working great now, so much quieter than my old one- and much more reliable! I will call him again when I decide to replace my old garage door. One step at a time! Thanks, Tom!
