This is the most egregious practice as a Vet I've seen in being a dog owner for 20+ years! Review your bill and look at what they prescribe before paying the bill!
For 3 does of panacur they charged $52.00, at a pet store or online it's under $12!
For 2 1.5mL pyrantil 50mg doses they charged $60, at a pet store or online 750ml of 50mg suspension is $20!
And even worse, for joint supplement like Consequin DS which is $30-40 for 132 count, they charged $90.
When confronted about it, the receptionist, the vet and the office manager all lied to us. Said it was because these are prescription versions that are made specifically for my breed and weight!
To prove they were lying, I used RedLine to scan the sealed bottle's bar code and showed them the prices and availability without prescription!
Also busy trying to sell you unneeded ""Science Diet"" food. Not to mention, there are better foods out there than this over priced food. Read the reviews!
All of these are available as over the counter, and my past vets have always sent me with what to buy at a pet store and instructions on dosages.
Do not go to this vet, they don't care about the dog. All they care about is re-selling over the counter products at outrageous markups and ""prescribing them "" for life.
Their tactics are to scare you with the worse case scenarios, and sell you product.
This sums them up ... in the words of their Office Manager, ""Well, we are a business.""
