A Long and Disappointing Night 12/17/2011

My husband and I took some friends there their Christmas present. We had a group of four adults and three children. We made reservations for 6:20 and did not get our food until 8:30! The waitress was nice and apologized for the long wait saying it was due to them having two very large parties. However, I wish they had told us that ahead of time. Besides, you would have thought they could handle it... they were not even filled to capacity. There were empty tables and there was not wait to be seated. It would have been nice if hey would have at least worked our food in there in between the large parties so we would have only had to wait 1 hour instead of 2 hours? My 1 1/2 year old son is on a schedule and he gets very fussy when it is past his bedtime. I ran out of videos and music on my phone trying to keep him pacified. We were all very hungry. I asked to speak to the owner about the situation but I was told that he was in the back cooking. His son came out and spoke with me and later my husband. He told my husband, ""I already spoke with your woman."" ""Your woman""... Excuse me? Where am I and can I get the respect to be called a wife?. I initially felt better when he offered to discount the whole ticket (I thought we would not be charged)... but when I got the bill he only offered a 30% discount on the ticket, to go boxes, and desert (which I decided not wait around for). To add insult to injury, they automatically added a 20% gratuity to our bill. I was thinking, what is the gratuity for? We had no service; all we did was sit around and wait and we were not even able to eat our food in the restaurant... we had to take it home. I am upset with myself for signing that bill. I should have at least asked them to take the gratuity off. I feel sorry for the server because it was not her fault the restaurant was not up to par. Maybe she should work somewhere else if she wants tips; but then again maybe it is good she is there since they force the tip upon their customers even when the service is far beyond poor and the customer is dissatisfied. Ultimately, we got home, put our son to bed, ate re-heated food that was not even good. There was barely any meat in my pasta dish and my husband's chicken parm was breaded fried chicken with a little bit of sauce and a thin piece of cheese. We mainly had some leftover flavored pasta and bland rice for dinner. My advice? If they are busy run the other way. more

Our favorite!!! 6/3/2011

Not only do we always feel welcome at Raz, with the Chef himself coming to say hello and see if we enjoyed our meal. But the food and atmosphere are great. We especially look forward to the prime rib on the weekends. It is by far the best steak in town. This is a hidden gem and we appreciate that it is set away (in distance) from the rest, as we get that at-home feel and attention. Thank you Raz, for consistently giving us a great dining experience and a fantastic meal, always. more

Always feels like Home Away from Home!!!! 5/26/2010

I always get the 2 entrees for 15.99; I like the sirloin, jambalaya, and the gumbo. The homemade croutons were wonderful. (I asked for extra croutons). The rolls were hot and delicious. Staff ALWAYS makes you feel welcome. I want to go on weekend to try the Prime Rib. Pros: Friendly staff, $3.00 glass of Razz's label wine Happy Hour more

Great Food, Wonderful Ambiance, Razz is Superb 4/10/2010

It's one thing to open a restaurant simply because you are an excellent chef, but to combine a fine dining experience with the personal touch as only Raz can do, tells the entire story. The man got where he is through hard work and will remain there because he truly cares. His work staff is trained to serve with a smile and to be efficient. The quality of his food is top notch bar none. I especially liked the Chicken Parmigiana and the fettuchine; it was cooked to perfection. But all his entres and appetizers are excellent. Tonight he featured live music ala piana and it added a special touch. I've know Raz since he opened in Antioch and he continues to be one of the best in Nashville. He has my highest praise and kudos. Try it once and you will return I assure you. Pros: Atmostphere, Friendly Owner, Excellent Service, Best Food more

This is one of my boyfriend's favorite restaurants because he loves spicey food. The chef is from New Orleans and definitely has a cajun background. The menu has American dishes with a cajun flare to them. \r \r We ordered the spinach artichoke dip as an appetizer, and it was really good. The first time I went there, I had the ribs. They definitely tasted re-heated, and they did not have a slow-cooked taste. The sauce was good, though. The second time I went there, I had the roast. Again, the meat tasted re-heated. It was soaked in a nice gravy, though, and that made it okay. The last time we went there, I ordered the NY Strip. It was cooked well, not too overdone. However, it lacked seasoning. \r \r My boyfriend has ordered several dishes there, and he has loved all of them. He has ordered both chicken and seafood dishes. My impression is that maybe these dishes are their specialty. \r \r Raz's is a bit expensive for what you get, but not terribly so. It has a nice, cozy atmosphere. It is a little dark, which is nice. There aren't usually too many kids, so that's good. Pros: Good atmosphere, nice selection and service Cons: A bit expensive, not too good with meats more
