Ray Family Farms raises grass-fed, pastured cattle, pastured pigs, and laying hens in Louisburg, NC. Chicken eggs, beef, and even young hogs are sold to customers willing to take part in supporting the family farm, and in turn, the farming community. All of the fields have been converted back to pasture after growing row crop tobacco. Farmer Chad Ray oversees the growing of the farms' own hay and the rotation of the livestock. Nitrogen and soil run off has been reduced through extensive conservation practices. Ten acres are kept tilled for produce, and twenty acres planted in native switch grass and wildflowers around the property borders, allowing for year-round nesting and cover for all types of wildlife.
