Editorial review from Citysearch 12/13/2012

I went to Polaris urgent care with a U.T.I. I ended up paying over $300.00 for a prescription for free antibiotics. When I received a second bill from them, I was upset when they billed me $32.00 for a pregnancy test. I was never asked if there was any chance I was pregnant, which there was absolutely, positively NO way I could be pregnant, and I was never informed I'd be given & billed for a pregnancy test. I can pick up a pregnancy test at the dollar store for $1.00, and they're just as effective as the test I'm sure I was given. They refused to drop the charge. I feel $300 to address I UTI is pretty excessive, especially with unnecessary charges like that. Definitely left a bad taste in my mouth, and will deter me from returning. more

Horrible Urgent Care 5/11/2012

Do not waste your time to go to this Urgent Care! Doctors mis-diagnosed all the time. Every single symptoms were diagonosed as H1N1 flu! My mom went there for UTI and low blood pressure, they told her she got h1n1. The urgent care is so incompetent that most hospitals won't even use their test result!! My husband went there for a sore throat, the doctor prescribed him medication that was no longer made. It's unbelievable how this urgent care is still running. more

Top Dr. on East Coast and probably West Coast too!@!!!! 9/14/2011

went in on a saturday at 3pm offfice should have been closing I had no appt. the doctor was at the park with his kids. and he still came in to see me was there within 20 minutes. his nurses top of the line. They had to stay over and did not complain just was glad i was ok. i did not even have the money for my visit well not entirely he helped me with that even. He saw i needed help and was there for me without worrying about the money or his own personal gain. I have honestly never never EVER had an experience with such a caring dr. and nursing staff. they saved my life that day. i'll never forget it. more

I love how they treat their patients. more

When the doctor is closed, this is the place to go! 5/4/2011

I had a sore throat for a couple of days and really just tried to tough it out. Finally, I gave in and headed over to Polaris Urgent Care. I had taken my kids there before and had always had great service with them, so I figured I would try it as well. Of course, I waited until about 8 before I went in.....you know, wait all day and finally decide you can't take it anymore!\r I am so glad I did go in. The front desk was professional and speedily got the paperwork done so I was back before I knew it....(i was having a great time watching the TV anyway!) \r The nurse and Dr. D'Onofrio both examined me and sure enough I needed antibiotics. They worked with me on finding ones that would fit my needs -- allergic to penicillin and wanting the free anitbiotics from Giant Eagle or Kroger! They even helped me find a pharmacy that was still open at that late hour!\r Everyone was pleasant and I could sense that they really liked working there. \r It's so good to know that there's a place I can go when it's too late for my regular doctor. more

Great Care 5/4/2011

I was seen a few weeks ago for a back injury at the Urgent Care. I was cleaning out my gutters at home and fell off my roof. Dr. Rybaltowski and his staff took wonderful care of me, I was in a great deal of pain. He also cracked my back and gave me a injection in the muscle that was pulled which made things feel so much better faster. The Manager also gave me samples of the prescription to save me money at the pharmacy, which was really nice of her. I will go back to them for sure if I ever need a Urgent Care in the future! more

FRIGHTENINGLY INCOMPETENT. 4/25/2011

Doctor was absent minded. Seemed incredibly rushed. Tried to prescribe my son a medicine he is allergic to (which was written on the paperwork,) the nurse pointed out the mistake. He didn't ask pertinent questions, and didn't answer my questions thoroughly. I mentioned this to the nurse-manager and she said ""well, he's the owner, so there's not much you can do."" Dr. Garcia then prescribed a med with the nurse-manager telling us ""he doesn't know the dosing, so the pharmacist will tell you what to do"". We got to pharmacy and the meds said ""as directed by doctor"" we said - well, the doc's office said you'd tell us what to do and the pharmacist said, that's not our job. We called the dr office back and the nurse/manager said ""oh, I guess the pharmacist didn't want to look it up either."" What?!? Frighteningly incompetent care. I would NEVER return there, and will call our regular doctor tomorrow to see if he agrees with the meds prescribed by this Urgent Care. No one there seemed to be paying attention, although they were all very nice - which doesn't matter much if they're not attending to your medical needs otherwise! more

BEST URGENT CARE IN COLUMBUS OHIO 1/7/2011

I visited POLARIS URGENT CARE due to a foot injury while playing soccer with my boys. I also had a terrible cough as well. Their front staff was extremely polite and helpful.they put me in me a wheel chair and helped me with registraion which was very smooth and fast. I was wheeled to the back in an exam room by a very professional/clean looking young man who took my vitals and asked me some questions. soon as he walked out, the Dr. walked in (introduced himself as Dr.Garcia-very professional/well groomed) and performed an examination on me. He then decided to have my foot X-rayed. The same polite young man came back and assisted me to their x-ray room and took X-ray of my foot. I was then wheeled back to my room. Shortly after the Dr. walked into my room and inform me that i had a fracture. they set me up with an orthopedic immediately, wrap my foot and had me wear an orthopedic shoe, plus also gave me crutches and showed me how to use them. They discharged me with some pain med for my foot and an antibiotic/ cough syrup for my cough. the treament I received took roughly 30-40 minutes which was very short to me.The staff was extremely pleasant and polite with great bedside manner. I give them an A+ on medical care. they open from 9am-9pm and located on polaris pkway, opposite Chase Bank. their even better than my family Dr.\r Don't waste your time and money at any other medical facility BUT POLARIS URGENT CARE...They are truly the BEST URGENT CARE in Columbus Ohio. more

Polaris Urgent Care 9/27/2010

I've gone here one time, when I had an earache and didn't want to miss work to see a regular doctor. Polaris stys open until 9pm, which is why I chose them. I had trouble finding the place (it's in a cluster of similar-appearing office spaces) and I had to wait a while to be seen, as they had a big crowd. Those were the only real downsides. I found the staff to be polite and efficient. Dr. Villaneuva seemed competent and pleasant, and I was entirely satisfied with my experience there. The antibiotic he prescribed me wasn't covered under my insurance, and set me back $108 for a tiny bottle of eardrops, but the stuff proved to be remarkably effective, and in the end was worth the cost. I'll certainly use them again if I need afterhours care. more

Great experience 9/13/2010

My family has gone to Polaris Urgent Care several times and has always had a good experience. The staff is nice and responsive plus the doctors have always been good. And we never have had to wait too long. Plus it is open until 9PM - which is nice when all of a sudden you feel bad at night and there is no where to go. more

Horrible Urgent Care, Don't Waste Your Time & Money! 7/9/2010

We have made the mistake twice now of taking our daughter here unfortunatly when Dr. Garcia was not on duty and Childrens Close to Home was closed. Doctors filling in for Garcia have no clue, we were actually telling them what ""we"" thought was wrong with her! Terrible wait times while nurses sit in there and ""chat"" at desk! Both times the dr's come in and act like they are just interns and not prepared to handle bronchitis or a sprained ankle! Don't waste your time and money here, go to ER or another place. This place is a total JOKE! Pros: Close Location Cons: Doctors filling in for Dr. Garcia have NO CLUE!!! more

Don't bother. just go to the ER for real treatment 5/29/2010

complete and total waste of time and money! \r they charge 101$ for the visit. \r I go in with a m ultitude of symtpoms ( Terrible cough, Body aches, fever, SEVERE HEADACHES thats making me vomit when I cough it hurts so bad) \r the dr will not give me anything for pain or prescribe me anything but antibiotics, and a decongestant...........all I wanted was to get through a day or 2 pain free.. \r he says nothing will help but motrin WTF.... im no doctor but if my head feels like it's going to explode I need something to numb it a bit... \r \r next time I will just go to the hospitol where real doctors work. \r would have saved me so much headache... \r DO NOT GO TO POLARIS URGENT CARE \r \r Pros: nothing Cons: evrything more

For The Record 2/1/2010

Polaris Urgent Care appreciates all constuctive input and truly considers all positive changes.\r \r For the record, Dr. Garcia is board certified in emergency medicine by the American Board of Physician Specialties, and also certified in occupational medicine, family medicine and as an independent medical examiner. more

Great Care when feeling horrible! 1/25/2010

I was seen today at the Polaris Urgent Care for a visit for a terrible cough I was having. The doctor and Nurse were very helpful and I felt like I was taken care of excellent. I was diagnosed with Bronchitis and was given a breathing treatment which really helped with my wheezing. The nurse was also nice enough to offer me a sample of the nasal spray the doctor had prescribed me which save me a lot of money with my expensive insurance copay. I will be back for sure next time I am sick! Pros: Pleasant staff, well trained doctors, short wait Cons: traffic on Polaris at 5pm/christmas season more

GO SOMEWHERE ELSE! 8/11/2009

Not one employee here is friendly, they are rude to everyone that comes in the door and the women behind the desk repeatedly ignore phone calls, drink smoothies and act/talk as though no one can hear or see them. The doctor acts like you a burden to his schedule. Not to mention you have to wait hours to receive this horrible care. more

Do not go! 2/3/2007

This place may be a place to go if you have bumps, scrapes, etc., but if you are truly concerned about your health please do not go here. First of all I had a problem that I had never experience before that started about 12 hours earlier. They took urine and venous fluid samples, which is normal. The first problem occurred when they told me that they send out the venous fluid for analysis! Why even go here when they do this? They told me that the results would be ready in three days! The doctor then diagnosed me by saying, ""the problem is probably this, but we won't know for sure until the venous fluid test results come back."" He prescribed me some medication. The nurse told me that if the problem did not get better to go to the ER. That night (only a few hours later) I was in much more pain. The next morning I went to the ER. A few hours later is was having emergency surgery to save my life. The surgeon told me that I only had 18-24 hours left to live had I not had surgery. Hence, my suggestion, stay away if you value your health. Put your trust in the hands of people that can do all the tests on site, and can correctly diagnose and treat you at the same site. If I had waited for the venous fluid test results from the urgent care clinic it would have been too late, if you catch my drift. Pros: They make sure they give you a bill in a timely fashion. Cons: Everything! more
