Eat like the King at the Pizza Kitchen in west Knox County. Owner, Travis Redmond, a rabid Elvis fan, offers patrons a Hunk of Burnin’ Love lunch buffet Monday through Saturday, from 11 to 2. Redmond assures us it’s better than a fried banana sandwich.
And if that doesn’t get you all shook up, try one of the Pizza Kitchen’s hand tossed pizzas. Although you can order the usual suspects – pepperoni, sausage, beef, ham and assorted vegetable offerings – it’s the specialty pizzas that make this trip worthwhile. Choose from the Big Greek loaded with kalamata olives roasted garlic and feta cheese or the Blue & Green smothered in mushrooms, spinach and blue cheese. There are 12 unique pizza combinations from which to choose.
Sandwiches more your thing? Then try the Muffeletta, the Gardener or the Black Eyed Burrito. If a steaming plate of pasta is more your style, choose angel hair swirled in basil, sundried tomatoes, spinach and roasted garlic with your choice of four sauces – alfredo, pesto, marinara or olive oil white wine sauce. There is also lasagna, spaghetti with meatballs and ravioli.
And the meal just wouldn’t be complete without one of the Pizza Kitchen’s decadent desserts. Choose from raspberry sorbet, red velvet cake, cowboy cookies tiramisu, or the King’s favorite TLC (Taking Care of Bananas) – a peanut butter banana burrito served with two scoops of vanilla ice cream topped with chocolate, honey and cinnamon sugar.
