I;m only giving one star because I have to. I am disgusted at these people.
RUN if you see Pincus Realty!!! Lesson learned.
Yes, I am bitter, I feel used and humiliated, invaded and violated after trusting that these people wanted to help me and my family rent an apartment. Those $200 could have paid for 2 months of my kid's after-school program, you bastards. $200 which I now have to work overtime to make up for.
$200 for what? I walked in there with a truckload (and ALL) the necessary paperwork they requested, (that I was able to obtain and put together in a matter of hours) because they made me feel that I had a great chance at this apartment. They just looked my papers over. $200 for THAT? Really?
Don't be as trusting to these folks as I was. They were rude and short to begin with. After they took my $200 (which they seemed to want the moment i stepped into the apartment) it turns out they were sheep in wolf's clothing. After they took my $200 they had an open house for the apartment. I wouldn't be surprised if they own these apartments and that's the way they make their living as opposed to renting them.
WATCH OUT: They will ONLY take cash, or money order for the $200 deposit. They even offered to drive me to the ATM 5 minutes after seeing the apartment.
How nice of them, eh? They took a picture of me with their phone for the security of the building. I had just seen the place and had not even applied for it yet. They made it seem that it was such a sure shot for me. and they kept saying they'd help me out.
The kept coming up with excuses to turn us down, which I found challenging, so I kept producing paperwork for them and calling them on their BS. My husband and I have excellent credit score (781), we both have been in the same jobs for 10 years, we have lived in the same apartment for 9 years and have a letter of recommendation from the landlord as model tenants, and letters from our employers. Our incomes are average. We have no pets. The told us we didn't get the apartment because we didn't have at least 10,000 in savings. Yes, they got us on something that is true. But savings requirement was never mentioned before they took our deposit. I was spooked by the fact that they wanted to take pictures and then handed them all my financial information.
I am going to take this as far as I can. Not so much to take my money back (though lord knows I'd love to), but because these people should be stopped from taking advantage of the middle-lower class, by offerring these same apartments on Main Street in Briarwood at below the market rates in order to rip people off.
