Pet Extreme

I was visiting some friends and I decided to start buying some fish to give as a gift. I saw that the only specialty/pet store was Pet Extreme and I decided to go there. I saw that there was no fish variety. Most of the tanks were empty and some fish in many of the tanks were dead already! There was a big tank with small school fish and the tank was not covered and a couple of fish jumped out on the floor. The person in charge was not acting. When I brought it to the associate's attention he just got the fish and dumped it although the fish were still alive! I was horrified. I finally decided to buy freshwater fish; I've had tons of pet fish and from 10 years of experience I have never seen a fish die so quickly after i bough it. The fish died the very next day and when I brought it to the attention of the associates they told me that it was probably my fault or my water. I come from a city where water is chlorinated and from my friends (locals) I know that this city does not have clorine treated water --they've had fish in this water even without treatment. Nevertheless I bought water treatment but the fish did not even make it through the night. The management of the store did not even care and said there was no guarantee! I know for a fact any other store gives you your money back or replaces the fish within a reasonable but NOT this one. I was pretty upset and although I was thinking of getting a big tank for a friend's daughter (accessories, etc) I won't get it from there--they lost a BIG sale and various cutomers over such an insignificant thing. The people held it really badly and rudely. Personally I have my own store where I shop and all the people are pleasant and extremely knowledgeable. I would reather go to a Petco or Petsmart in another city than set foot in this place again. I DO NOT RECOMMEND THIS STORE. these people are so helpful. if the person you ask doesnt know about it then they will ask someone else. you do have get the person from the department. fish people know about fish and small animals knows small animals. they will take as long as it takes to make sure you get what you need, they wont sell you it just to make money. they take pride in what they do and keep us customers coming back. if u want to be ignored to to the big pet stores. if you want a personal touch with people who know there stuff go to pet extreme. and that whole fish review i read is ridiculous they have helped me set up a tank for scratch and kept me from killing some of my old fish by adding one another ""big"" store said i could (brackish doesnt mix with tropical so well) if they were so horrible i wouldnt make it my one stop shopping for all my pets Pros: they smart and helpful staff, cat and dog adoptions on weekends Cons: wish they had cats and dogs all the time more

My husband and I have been raising fresh and saltwater fish for more years than many of the people working at Pet Extreme have been sucking air, we have also owned our own pet store and therefore have way more experience with fish than these wet behind the ears condesending people. When we went to buy a couple more saltwater fish for our tanks and found MANY DEAD fish in the tanks, my husband said to one of them that they should take out the dead fish as it makes them look bad, they remarked, and this is a quote, ""These fish are not meant to live very long and we know what we are doing."" Well, why would I pay $30+ for a fish that isn't meant to live very long? Why would I even want a salt water tank if the fish don't live very long? I have fish that have been alive more than 5 years and they can't keep them alive more than 2 weeks??? And they know what they are doing? I've bought 6 fish from this place and not one of them made it more than a few day. Also, when we noticed that the Lion Fish had what looks like ""ick"" they said it was ok and they sold it to some one else. Guess what some one else? You have now infected all your fish with a disease that will probably either cost you a butt load of money to fix or all your fish will die. Thanks Pet Extreme, I will never buy another fish from you and I will tell all my ""fish buddys"" to do the same. more
