My wife and I were visiting the McAllen area and stopped by the Palenque Grill to see the menu before we decided if we wanted to eat there or not. None of the workers spoke English and the prices were a little high compared to what we expected so we walked out. To our surprise, an English speaking worker came out to the parking lot and told us he would give us 50% off our meal if we stayed. I told him we would just eat somewhere else and he then offered us free meals! We were then very suspicious of the place but decided to give them a chance. Our waiter was nice and made sure we knew we could have anything we wanted. He brought out chips with a very hot salsa and a bean dip as well. We loved the bean dip but the salsa was too hot for our taste. He also brought out a plate of Shrimp Ceviche which was excellent. For our main courses I tried the Sarandeado (orange roughy) and my wife had the flautas. The Sarandeado was delicious and was served with the best rice I have ever had at a Mexican restaurant. The flautas were good and were presented well. We were offered desert but were too full to have any. Overall I would recommend the food at Palenque Grill.
Pros: Clean, tastefully decorated
Cons: Hosts didn't speak English
