They have the worst customer service, try to cut every corner they can and they use the cheapest ingredients and charge premium prices for it. All of the cooks and kitchen staff are illegal Mexicans who they pay $6 hour and all live in a single apartment shared by the 5 or 6 cooks and the manager Steven. Steven is the most disrespectful and under-qualified manager and has ran out over 10 employees over the past month. He had two hostesses come in for work, had them both work all night and then said he could only pay one of them. more

DO NOT EVEN TRY THIS PLACE. THE OWNER WAS VERY DISRESPECTFUL AND STARTED SCREAMING BECAUSE MY 15YR OLD SON DID NOT LIKE THE WAY THE FOOD SMELLED/TASTED AND WANTED TO RETURN THE DISH. more

I literally eat here every week. The food is top quality, fresh, flavorful and a lot of choices so you will never get bored. The value is awesome. With delicious food like that & such large portions I don't know how they make money since everything is such a good price. The service is top notch as well. You have more than one waiter taking care of you and you rarely have to wait. They have wine some delicious mix drinks. I personally suggest the classic Mojito. It will not let you down. Also I have met the owner. He is a really cool guy and I have never personally had a problem with him or had any of my friends have a problem with him. He will treat you right for sure. I don't understand why some people are leaving bad comments. I am guessing they are the sour ones that tried to get discounts or free food after they have already eaten it. If you can't pay for your food, don't go to a restaurant. Check the place out. You will NOT be disappointed. If anything, you will end up going there regularly for lunch, dinner, or both! more

We had ordered from Orient Cafe before and it was satisfactory - has never been the best - but good enough for us to oder for the convenance of their delivery area. ******************BUT NEVER AGAIN******************** We ordered 4 items from the menu and 2 out of four were overcooked to the point that the chicken had a beef jerky texture. The BBQ Ribs were certainly micro waved and were hard as an eraser. The owner yelled at us to bring the food back, after tipping the delivery driver, in order to get a credit or a refund. To scream at a customer for their horrible cooking is really unforgivable. NEVER ! more

My elderly mother and myself literally stumbled upon this restaurant while visiting from out of town. We saw it in a strip mall and pulled in, not expecting much more than fast chinese food. We were completely surprised and recommend this place to anyone! Great service, full bar, and excellent food! The sesame chicken is A+! more

This is all happened on 1/20/2009. I had been told by a friend to go there, they had a ok size parking lot. when i first walking the place. it was such a lovely place.good lighting for a couple or a family. and who know a chinese place would have a full bar too. the food we order came out just the right order. foods are nice and hot and taste very good and the staff are very friendly and helpful. when i ask about to go menu and delivery . they told me to go is nice and fast about 15 min per order-also depend on their size and amount of food. they had drivers from 5pm to 9pm. and drivers close out by 8:45pm then they do the paper work and close out for the night. so they only do delivery from 4:55pm to about 8:45pm. this is nice to know and besides who eat dinner around 9 or 10pm, way to late for me anyway.i am happy that me and my friends got a new asian-chinese place to go to now. and i am very thankful that my friend told me about this nice place!!! i would come there again for their food. more

This restaurant can produce decent food when it wants to. Unfortunately, the whim of the owner or manager on duty prescribes the attitude and performance of the kitchen and wait staff. Pros: Their food is okay. Cons: They will not deliver as they claim they will. more

Love that they deliver! But enjoy dining in also (except the Kenny G background cd one time). Service has always been friendly and competent (Gerald is great & will probably be tough to keep). It is a large space and since we end up eating very late, there are generally only a few patrons left. As such, we assumed their success was based more on deliveries, but on a recent lunch visit, we were delighted to see they were very busy. Our son loves the ""all-day special"" option. Effort was obviously put in to appointing the space, with the inlaid wood details in the walls and sculpted dropped ceiling, etc, and the full service bar is appreciated. The menu is extensive, so when we order delivery, we stick to our usuals, but we have yet to be disapointed with any dish served thus far. Certainly check them out. While I do wish there were more choices for Chinese food, ESPECIALLY DELIVERY, Orient Cafe is the best choice around the South Shore/Kemah area. It is a restaurant first, delivery 2nd but the staff are always friendly and helpful and you'll always be more than satisfied with the food. On a scale of 1 - 10, the flavor, quality and quantity of the meals are an 8.5 out of 10. Orient Cafe's competition is 1) Szchuan Garden on FM2094 down the street and the Fish Bowl on Hwy146, the latter being a buffet restaurant and neither of them deliver. Szchuan Garden is HORRIBLE!!!!!!!!! The fish bowl is a great restaurant if you like buffet style though it's the most expensive buffet within 20 miles. This place offers really good food, especially for delivery. The vegetables are fresh and crisp, the sauces are not heavy and the chicken is good white meat. With so many bad chinese restaurants - this one is really worth a try! more
