Nana's Hot Dogs

Just went there today to get a few kids meals (we were always there with 7 little kids). They changed their kids meals drink cups to lids you use for coffee so when the kids opened the tab to put their straw in it would spill all over the car without fail. I asked them if they could put it in a cup with a regular lid and the lady came to the window and yelled, ""That's how it is and if you don't like it don't come to Nana's to buy your kids meals!"" Man what a rude S.O.B. I will never give them my business again and would recommend staying away from a place with such insane customer dis-service! more

Stopped in here for lunch on our bikes. Some of my family live in the area........this place has me wishing I lived here too!! Great hot dogs and fries!! I hear the burgers are great too! Need to try the burgers and beefs next! And the pizza too!! We had the special.....two hot dogs with the fries on top.....wrapped separately.......had one for lunch....and nuked the other for dinner. Awesome!!! more

Are you kidding me? Absolutely Awesome!! I grew up on Gene and Judes, and other great Dog spots around O'hare, but I have to say it was like Christmas morning eating in this place, and the best part is that I found it on accident. I was having my bike tuned up at Two Seasons down the street, and they were running behind, so I told them I'll get lunch and come back. I was heading west on Irving Park and saw the sign, ""Nana""s"" and the look of the place was a classic hot dog joint. I was not dissapointed. Hand cut fries that were fried to perfection, with a little hint of being crisp and wrapped into the dog with the grease soaking through the paper!!! Heaven, Baby!! This is how i grew up, with the fries embedded in the bun and a fry in every bite!!! I will be going there as often as possible, hell i may even move into the area just because of this place. I guarentee that I will be making the drive in from Lombard as often as i can to get these dogs. I'd wish they'd franchise and let me run one of these diamonds in the rough... I have been eating Nana's Hot Dogs since I was a kids in the 1970's. Thirty years later my boys and I take day trips to Streamwood to get my childhood favorites. Now they are hooked too! You cannot get a hot dog like this anywhere and th price of the dogs includes the fries!!! Yes there is limited seating and yes it is a little greasey but in 30 plus years I have never had a tough and chewy fry from Nana's only great food Portillo's can't touch this place!! Even Nana's Italian Beef and burgers are great!! Pros: Great Dogs & fries included in dog price!! Cons: To far from my house!! more

I stopped in to savor the Hotdog and Fries. The foot long hotdog was great and the skin had just the right snap to it at first bite. At first sight, I was happy to see the fresh cut fries. I notices there was no warming tray with heat lights. the fries go from fry basket to your tray. However, I suspect that a basket of cooked fries hanging on the rack gone cold was dropped back into the oil for a heat up and this caused them to be tough and chewy. when the fries come right from the basket they are very good. more

Hot diggity dog! If you voted for Portillo's, then you've never been to Nana's! The dogs pop just right when you bite into them and the fries.... aaaaah! They're made just as fresh as fresh can be! They place a potato in the slicer right in front of you and drop 'em in the fryer! For those of you eating the Portillo's dogs in Hanover Park, just keep on driving down Barrinton Road and turn right on Irving Park... they're just less than a mile down and well worth the trip!
