Positively the best steak I have ever had in a restaurant 1/17/2009

When in the Bay Area, I almost exclusively dine on seafood or sushi. But this night we had a carnivor in our party who didn't care for the fruits of the sea. So we walked a couple of blocks from our hotel to Mortons. Pros: Outstanding Steaks, Good Service, Nice Ambiance Cons: Expensive more

Great Steak and Service! 7/16/2008

I absolutely LOVE this place. The steak was so tender and cooked just the way I asked for it. I had the Filet. Everything is alacarte but who cares it is all soooo good! Pros: They have specials every now and then 2 dinners $99 Cons: Everything is alacarte more

Very friendly service, excellent food 5/12/2008

I was there twice now and I always enjoyed it a lot. The ambience is very nice but dark. (In my case: I like that). The hostess welcomes you very friendly and also the other waiters are very helpful and friendly (and funny!!) Pros: food, service Cons: expensive - but worth it! more

not all that 2/2/2008

We get there, Valet is only $6 which is cheaper than the garage, so that was nice. we were seated near the kitchen, overall i thought the restaurant was too lound and not intimate. Bus boys and waiters bumped my chair 5 times and never apologized. I would not order the scallop appetizer again it was nothing special and only 3 small scallops. the oysters rockefeller were great but again only 4 oysters. I had the lamb chops which were perfect, my bf had the ribeye again very good. the potatoes lyonaise and the asparagus were nothing special. Souffle was yummy. Overall I thought it didn't add up to the caliber of restaurant it is supposed to be. Pros: steak and lamb chop were amazing Cons: loud, not intimate more

A very dissapointing experience 9/21/2007

I decided to try Mortons Steak house in San Jose for my birthday. I was completely dissapointed in almost everything about my visit. The atmoshpere was nice, as well as the bread they served. That is the only positive things i can contribute. Service was very slow and not very good especially with such a large crew working and it was not very busy. When asking questions about the menu we found out that all the fish for the most part is farm raised, and to top it off the crab they have is from a can. I know its speciatly is Steak and not seafood, however we had one person in the group who doesnt eat meat. He ended up only having a green salad, inwhich this was lousy, it was really soggy. The rest of us ordered steak. We all had Filets. When I cut into the steak it was very difficult to cut it into pieces it was very very hard even though I had ordered it medium rare. It was cooked as I requested but for some reason its outer part was like a hard shell. Then the taste was just no good. I ate it only becuase of the price of the meal. We all felt the smae way about the experience and none of us would ever go back or recommend. The Grill and Alexanders are my favorite places for steak. Pros: good bread - sorry thats all i can say! Cons: almost everything except the bread more

THIS IS NOT A MORTON CALIBER RESTURANT, very POOR SERVICE, undercooked food, wrong drinks VERY DISAPOINTED!!!! 7/15/2007

WE LOVE MORTON'S and always go to any MORTON'S in any city we are in because you can count on QUALITY STAFF/QUALITY SERVICE/QUALITY FOOD. This Morton's in San Jose, should not be allowed to be called MORTON'S, it is the only disaponting MORTONS IN OUR EXPERIENCE. The SERVICE was very POOR, starting from the BAR, even with reservations we were kept waiting 25 minutes, as there was only 1 bartender for the customers & staff and the resturant was not full, but the bar was packed. The WAITER who had NO EXPERIENCE, was POORLY TRAINED just made the evening go from BAD TO WORSE. From the time we sat down it took 20 minutes to get the menu/look at the offerings. Water & bread another 15 minutes. Then another 15 minutes until the waiter took the orders. The appetizers were the high point of dinner , EXCELLENT RAW OYSTERS & SHRIMP COCKTAIL. The salad's were Morton's house salad, and good, the other salad's iceberg wedge with blue cheese dressing, had blue cheese but NO DRESSING and no taste. The sides of asparagus were so nearly RAW as to be TOUGH/unedible and the Hollandaise sauce was so boring it was tasteless. The STEAKS arrived for all 4, not MEDIUM AS ORDERED but all undercooked and cold, and after we sat for 1 1/4 HOURS, between the salads and the arrival of the steaks .THE WHOLE DINNER TOOK ABOUT 3 HOURS AND 25 MINTUES and the only COMPETENT STAFF WAS THE VALET PARKING CREW. Pros: RAW OYSTERS WERE GREAT as was the VALET PARKING Cons: HORRIBLE SERVICE, WRONG DRINKS, SLOW/SLOW/SLOW and WAY OVERPRICED more

WOULD YOU BELIEVE A $250.00 TAB SCORED AVERAGE 7/10/2007

First visit was for my wifes birthday- called ahead, special menu printed up, blah, blah, blah. Arrive at 6:30 and check-in. Receptionist forgot we were there til I checked in again 30m later. Get seated at a booth in a major thoughfare- wait/people bumping into table. Order prime rib- told by waiter that prime rib is sold out Pros: food Cons: service, service, service more

Great steak - but it is slow and pricey 6/11/2007

Maybe because we were a group, but getting each course took a long time. The steak and prime rib were noteworthy, but be prepared to wait awhile after placing your order. Desserts were good, but not anything to write home about. Appetizer, entree and dessert cost about $75 per person; I think corkage was $20 per bottle. Pros: $6 valet parking Cons: Service for group meetings/meals more
