We ended up having to bring our new puppy here late one night after she started having a bad reaction to having eaten her food too fast. They got us in very quickly and had a diagnosis right away. They ended up having to ""de-bloat"" her. (Kind of funny in retrospect, very terrifying in the moment). Charges were high, but customary with late night emergency care. The front desk staff was very nice and the vet explained everything thoroughly. We had one very gassy baby to bring home with us, but thank goodness she was ok :)\r more

I was referred 6/20/2014

I was referred to Midwest Bird and Exotic Animal Hospital by my local vet. From Portage, In. I had a ferret that needed surgery on her stomach. So I took her there and I love it there. So now I take all of my ferrets there. I have been going there for 9 years now. They are there for you in the middle of the night too. Dr. Poliakoff is my favorite vet. there. I live in Indiana and it takes me like an hour and a half to get there, but I don't care, it’s worth the drive because I know my ferrets are in good hands. So I would suggest everybody to go there for all of their exotic pets. more

I have been going to the Midwest Bird & Exotic Animal Hospital for at least 11 years now and will not go to any clinic but them. I value their opinion and treatment for my birds. more

This place is great. 6/3/2014

This place is great. I was sad that they relocated a few years ago but we still make the trip with our house rabbit. This is our third rabbit we have taken to them. This is no ordinary vet clinic-they really know their stuff. They even have educational videos playing when you go in an tons of albums filled with their loyal customers. Yes-they are pricey but you can't put a price tag on your family members. Something that helped me was getting VPI pet insurance for my rabbit. It's only about 120 a year and has really paid off. I just got a turtle and I'm looking forward to taking my turtle there as well. more

We had an emergency with our baby blue and gold macaw and this animal hospital came highly recommended by my local NWIN vet when they couldn't adequately address the problem. After driving 1+ hrs, we were seen after only a brief wait and received the undivided attention and expert perspective of Dr. Poliakoff. She examined our bird without incident (and bird owners know this to be quite a feat in itself!), and guided us to the the best course of treatment and followup observation. I would travel to them again in a heartbeat, and to those of you who squawk about the cost, they are regional experts who are worth their weight in gold... and worth whatever they want to charge! more

Caring 3/6/2014

The doctor is very nice and knowledgable about what was going on with my animal. Very friendly and caring staff. I recommend that everyone with animals gives this place a try. You won't be disappointed. more
