Worst dining experience ever. Night ruined. 12/10/2011

My husband and I were talking about where to go again this year for New Year's Eve - and it definitely won't be this place. We have heard such great things about it and were excited to take out of town guests there. Our reservations were for 7:30 p.m. We were seated, however people seated after us seemed to have their orders taken, drinks, etc. and we still weren't greeted by our waitress. She finally came after 30 minutes. We waited over an HOUR AND A HALF for our food to arrive all while we finished our first drinks and breadbasket, in which the waitress never came back for new drink orders. All other tables that were seated WAY after us were now eating their dinners! Now, being a former waitress, I tip VERY generously, and understand unforeseen problems with food orders, etc. but the waitress didn't apologize for the wait, or say our food was coming up. In fact, when we asked if there was a problem we were very rudely told that this is a fine restaurant and it takes time. Apparently tables around us must have NOT been in a fine restaurant but WE were. I've been to many restaurants and it never took THIS long. I was so embarrassed in front of our friends. By the time we finished eating, and didn't order desert - God knows how long that would have taken, it was a after 11 p.m. I think four hours for a dinner is just ridiculous. OK, maybe if it was a prix fixe 7 course menu but not this place. To top it off, the food was mediocre - of course there was a limited menu for the night and I had filet mignon, which was decent but nothing spectacular. Everyone said the food was ""alright"", but could tell they weren't impressed. Never again. They made a night that should have been special irritating, rude, and way too lengthy and embarrassing. We should have gone to the Meating House in Drums because we never had a bad dining experience in the dozens of times I've been there. more

My Parents Loved the Place 11/26/2009

My parents were treated to dinner there by our cousins, and they haven't stopped raving about it since. They had seafood with a pasta (Spaghetti) side, and said it was the best dining experience they had in their 2 weeks back east.\r \r It is pricey, but it is well worth it, and as they say, you do get what you pay for. If you want good, you're willing to pay the price for excellence now and then.\r \r Don't know what Bognor was gripping about. The service was terrific, the food superb, and the ambience wonderful. Ask my parents. Pros: Great Italian food, Seafood, Excellent Ambience Cons: You Get What You Pay For - Pricey but Excellent! more

great place for bland food and poor service 4/21/2009

Went in and was treated poorly by the staff. It took twenty minutes to get a drink and then another before my order was taken. This would have been understandable if they were busy but the restaurant was empty and it was Wednesday night. The chili soup was salty and from a can and the angel hair pasta was overcooked and from a box and the sauce was uninspired. When I mentioned it to the waitress she curtly told me that was the only soup that evening. My replacement had two dollars added to its cost to account for the soup I refused. They then fawned over a party of five of their friends and ignored us completely. If I go in again it will be after they personally invite me and apologize for their abhorrent behavior that evening. Pros: Beajutifully decorated Cons: poor service, food from a box or can, filthy restrooms more

A wondrerful dining experience!! 12/26/2008

From the moment that we walked through the door of The Library we felt very welcome and like one of the ""regulars"" at the restaurant. Great service, wonderful food, an expansive menu, a courteous bartender (Joe) and a very attentive waitress. We don't get to Hazelton often but when we do, this restaurant will be at the top of our list of places to visit again!! more

Best Italian resturant on the east coast!!!!!!! 11/27/2008

Since I've moved out of state, I am not able to find a resturant that serves a real ceasar salad.\r I will definately make a reservation to dine at this fabulous establishment when I visit the area . \r \r more

Best kept secret in Hazlton 7/25/2007

I was quite surprised when I walked through the dark stained hard wood doors into a beautifully decorated restaurant. There is a glass enclosed lounge called Aggie's Clam Bar (which allows smoking) and a small private glass enclosed private dining room. The main dining room is small with about fifteen tables. It is charming! There is also a bownstairs dining room for parties.\r The menu was quite extensive and it was hard to pick what I wanted. I went with the crab cake. Great choice, it had big chunks of crab meat in it and it was almost all crab! My friend had the Veal Francaise which was equally as good. They had a nice dessert selection but we were too full. I will go back to check out more of the menu.\r The service was prompt and professional. It is nice to see a restaurant with classical uniforms. Pros: charming with great food Cons: It is hard to find more
