We made a reservation in July, 2008 for 4 nights, starting on 8/12/08. The room was reserved with a credit card, and we would follow up with sending a check for one night's stay. We forgot to send it, and on 8/1/08, we spoke with a man at the hotel. We explained we forgot to send the check, but we would send it out immediately. We told them we were still going. They were OK with it. We sent out a check on 8/2/08. We arrived at the hotel on 8/12/08 and were told our reservation was cancelled. The explanations given were just plain lies. We were told they did not receive the check until 8/8/08, so they cancelled the room. They then said they have been calling us for weeks about the room. The woman ""bet her life"" that they have been calling. They claimed to have called us that same morning (8/12/08) at 7:30AM, and we did not answer the phone. We were home at 7:30AM, and our phone did not ring. We asked who was on our answering machine, and they said we did not have one. We informed them our son is on the greeting on our answering machine. When we checked our caller ID and answering machine, we discovered they called on 8/11/08 at 9:50AM, but no message was left. They did call us on 8/12/08, but it was not at 7:30AM like they claimed, but it was at 10:36AM, when we were already driving down to the Lamp Light. In the message, the representative said they cancelled our reservation because they received the check on 8/11/08. This contradicts the statement they made to us on 8/12/08, when they said they received it on 8/8/08. Then we were told they do not take credit cards and they didn't know why the man on the phone took our credit card number. Their reservation sheet has a space for credit card information. We were lucky enough to get a reservation at another hotel, although it was 6 miles away. It was not walking distance to the beach, or to our family who was also staying in Lavallette for the week. They just give your rooms away. They were very unprofessional.
Pros: They provide air to breath
Cons: Even the air is stale
