Best Veggie Burger 7/18/2007

I recently had lunch at Mission Rock Cafe and came away VERY impressed with this waterfront restaurant. My friend and I dined on the outdoors deck overlooking the bay with a pristine view of rustic old ships nearby. The setting was very pleasant with sweeping views of the bay and eastbay foothills. Since I am both a sports fan and a person who loves dining on the water, it was a double treat as some vantage points at the restaurant provides views into AT&T ballpark. Trying to be more health conscious in my eating habits, I have made it almost routine to order the veggie burger whenever it appears on a menu (for lunches at least). In that regard, I have tried many so feel I know my way around a good veggie burger and I can DEFINITELY say, Mission Rock has an outstanding one. They are made fresh on site, so no frozen, out of the box ones here. On this rare occasion, we went for the dessert of freshbaked brownie topped with fresh strawberries and whipped cream. I think I said, 'ok, just one more bite' about 10 times, trying to be good but before long, it was gone. The service was excellent...friendly and no long waits...what more can you ask for. I highly recommend the Mission Rock Cafe. Check it out. more

Great Service!!! Great Food!!! 6/20/2007

This is the first review I have ever been compelled to write. The food and the view of the bay, make this one of the best places in the city to go for lunch. The owner, Noel, is such a great guy and he has gathered a great staff. The service is outstanding. You feel immediately at home. I had the niman ranch gourmet burger with 4yr old cheddar cheese on ciabatta bread (be warned, portions are huge). Best burger I?ve ever had!!! My friend had the spiked bbq grilled chicken sandwich, Awesome! Also, our other favorites include the beer battered fish and chips, pei mussels with linguini and fish tacos, Yum!\r Easy to park and right off the freeway. Recommended 110%\r \r Pros: Food, staff, ambience, outside seating more

Fantastic Food, Service, and the Ambience is great for romance or company luncheon 6/15/2007

What a find....the chef does wonders with the food. A hamburger never tasted this good. Seafood is fresh. Servings are plentiful. Sitting on the deck and overlooking the Bay was wonderful. Service was fast and courteous. Great place for lunch. Just our first visit, but look forward to trying other menu items soon!! Pros: Food, Service, Parking.... more

This is NOT how you do it. 5/31/2007

Went to the new Mission Rock cafe on a business lunch yesterday and it was a disaster.\r It started well: the place was not full and we waited about 2 minutes for a seat, but things went downhill from there. It took a good 15 minutes for anyone to come by the table to take our drinks order, we got those in a few minutes and then ... nothing. No waiter, no water, no food. Eventually the hostess came by and took our order. We ordered 3 chicken sandwiches and one sausage sandwich. 30 minutes later our drinks had not been refilled once and our food was nowhere to be seen. We had to flag the hostess/waitress down to find out what was going on. The answer: oh we just opened up today it'll take a while. We had to ask for refills - which she had trouble keeping straight (2 ice teas, 2 cokes) then we waited another 25 minutes for the food to arrive .... cold. I had to go to the kitchen afterward to get the check. \r \r I've worked in restaurants and this is not how you do it. Hopefully things will get better. The old Mission Rock was one of my favorite lunch places. The new version is sub-par across the board. Pros: Great view Cons: Cold food, bad service more

One of the best SF Clubs 3/8/2003

Great music, big indoor and outdoor area, and plenty of bars. This is a great night spot for dancing etc. The only downside is the parking and the very long line to get in. It's not the safest area to park your car. I highly suggest to get a cab or get dropped off. more
