Kat Wok is popular locally for its specialty sushi rolls, and this is not unwarranted. They are creative, elaborate, and fresh, if a little dependent on spice to make their statement. It's an entertaining kick for some and a bit of a bait and switch for those expecting the traditionally subtle sushi. In contrast, the non-sushi dishes look exciting on the page but don't always seem to live up to their ingrediants.
The atmosphere is another unconventional characteristic for a sushi restraunt, resembling more than anything a cocktail bar. The lighting is dark and the noise level high, sometimes highlighted by radio. The waitresses look the part. At a certain hour of night it turns into a disco. This again may be an appeal to some and a turnoff to others.
