Self Proclaimed Food Snobs Love Ivy's Cafe!! 7/4/2006

Who better than ask where to dine than 2 self proclaimed food snobs? Where else could we suggest than Ivy's Cafe? The drive from Uniontown is always relaxing, even in a snow storm when we know our destination is Ivy's. When we reach the door we always ask if table 7 is available. We love the cozy table for by the window and the fireplace. When seated our server, usually Tracy or Brenda make us feel welcome like we are family there for Sunday Dinner. We listen to additions to the menu but we have our favorites, especially for lunch. The Polynesian burger is grilled to perfection, which is a juicy hamburger patty, bottom bun with a fresh pineapple which serves as the top bun, a crispy pickle and on the side chips is my sig others favorite. I have designed my own special. The chef freshly prepares a salad with a scoop of the most tender, moist chicken salad with cranberries in the mixture complements my choice. We do not allow ourselves to indulge in desserts, but we get extremely tempted as we see other patron with theirs, especially the carrot cake, which we have overheard is an award winner. The atmosphere is an Eclectic mixture of wine bottle labels on the wall as a chair rail, antiques, local artists paintings , which are for purchase. The aforementioned reasons make Ivy's Cafe one of the best Restauant that this well traveled foodie has ever had the pleasure of becoming a repeat diner. Cons: Not Close enough to dine at nightly! more

fine dining 7/2/2006

Ivy Cafe is one of the best resturants that I have every been to. My husband and I have visited many times and have never been disappointed. We have bought gift cerificates for friends and family and everyone comes back with rave reviews. The food is outstanding and the service is excellent. The ambiance is so cozy. I'll be sad when they get their liquor licence, bringing your own bottle is part of the fun. Thanks to the staff and owners for their commiment to excellence. more

Can compete with any restaurant, anywhere 7/1/2006

This restaurant is a rare treasure...great food, great prices, great staff, great atmosphere. We have been to fine restaurants in NYC, San Francisco, Barbados, Bermuda, etc & Ivys is in the same league as the finest restaurants anywhere. The food is always seasonal, fresh & imaginative & we have tried almost every entree they offer. There is never a misstep here. Besides the wonderful food, the service is great & the restaurant is very cozy. Pros: Location, food, ambience Cons: Only one unisex bathroom more

Enjoyable dining experience 6/30/2006

While in Ligonier one Sunday, my husband and I went to Ivy's for lunch. What a wonderful choice! The food was delicious and atmosphere was very nice (quaint and romantic). Hoping to spend our anniversary dinner there soon! Pros: affordable gourmet food more

Great romantic dining spot 6/30/2006

The atmosphere is fabulous; the food even more so. I had never heard of Ivy's until I saw a promotion during the late winter months. I traveled approximately 30 miles to dine there. I signed up for the newsletter and I enjoy the humorous e-mails, newsletter, and promotions they run. I count it as my favorite place to celebrate a special occasion. I have shared my experience with friends and family and encourage them to dine there. I am looking forward to returning soon. Pros: Lots of promotions Cons: parking more

everything 6/30/2006

Entering Ivy's is a time travel to the past, where time constraints vanish and one is enveloped in an atmosphere that is at once elegant and comforting. Evey detail of the decor, from the menu to the antiques to the presentation are superb. Modern menu items combine with Victorian charm to make a dining experience that is beyond compare. This restaurant is the perfect match of fine dining by Doug combined with the comforts of home. Put your elbows on the table and enjoy. more

Awsome place 6/29/2006

I cann not say enough about Ivy's Cafe. The food is wonderful and the atmosphere is outstanding. Service is friendly and very helpful. I am Queen of a Red Hat Chapter and we love going there. It is worth the drive to go to Ligonier just to go there. It is a ""Not to be missed"" experience. more

Gourmet food in historical landmark! 6/29/2006

People say the locals know the best places to eat. I live in Ligonier and am a ""local"". Ivy's Cafe is the best for wonderful gourmet food not only in Ligonier but all around the valley. The historical landmark building in which it is located, adds charm to the pleasant setting. Local artists decorate the restaurant walls with their artwork. Chef Doug accomodated my ""special"" dietary needs without fanfare. And the prices are reasonable to boot! Pros: Soon to have a liquor license but able to BYO Cons: Not a walk in restaurant, need reservations more

Wonderful food AND service! 6/29/2006

We just visited Ivy's for the 1st time for our 10th wedding anniversary. What a wonderful dinner!! The restaurant is so charming in itself, and the staff decorated our lovely (Corner, window) table with rose petals for our special day. The food was the best we've ever had and the service was absolutely outstanding!! This was our first visit to Ivy's but definitely not our last! Pros: Quaint, charming, quiet atmosphere. BYOB policy really helps cut down on costs! Cons: No current liquor license (although you are able to BYOB) more

Great food 6/29/2006

I first discovered Ivy's Cafe last fall. A friend and I spent an afternoon shopping in Ligonier and we decided to have lunch there. The menu looked so inviting we could not resist. I had my first taste of tilapia there and now try to recreate the deliscious dish that I first tried there. \r My friend is returning home from Kuwait at the end of July and one of the places I want to take him for a romantic outing is at Ivy's Cafe. After a year of Army food, I want him to have a special treat. I haven't been back since that first visit, but I haven't forgotten the good food and the atmosphere. \r Joyce Pritts more

I Love Ivy's Cafe 6/28/2006

I love, love, LOVE Ivy's Cafe. A couple of years ago I was visiting my parents in Latrobe and we decided to head over to Ligioner for dinner. We ended up at Ivy's Cafe and were amazed! It was one of the best meals we've ever had. Soon we began to go to Ivy's almost every time I was home. In fact, when I brought my boyfriend home for the FIRST time (when impressions are VERY important) we went to Ivy's and had a fabulous meal. Wonderful atmosphere, wonderful food! more

Best Fine Dining 6/28/2006

To say that Ivy's cafe is the best restaurant in Ligonier is certainly high praise. There are many great restaurants in the Ligonier Valley. However, I believe that Ivy's Cafe would give any fine restaurant in Pittsburgh a run for its money. The fact that it is in the town of Ligonier just adds to the experience. There is no better night out than enjoying a fabulous dinner for a reasonable price in a cozy atmosphere and then following it up with a stroll through the streets of Ligonier. So whether you are looking for a romantic setting with a wonderful restaurant or a romantic restaurant in a wonderful setting, Ivy's Cafe in Ligonier is the place. This is a can't-lose evening out on the town!! And it's only a little bit more than an hour away from Pittsburgh. Pros: liquor license is still in application phase Cons: BYOB policy helps keep the cost of the bill waayyyy down! more

World Class Ranking! 6/28/2006

Although we actually live in South Central PA, we make the effort to eat at Ivy's when we travel back to Western PA to visit our folks. We make the effort because Ivy's has a menu that satifies everyone's taste. My husband and I travel a lot between New York City and London due to his job. Thus, we have eaten at many of the top notch restaurants like the OXO in London and the revovling restaurant atop The Marriott Marquis in NYC. These places are great ... but like the saying goes...there's no place like home. We have not found too many places where the waitstaff were so engaging, the atmoshpere so welcoming and the food so delicious. The Ivy's Cafe is both great for the pallet and easy on the wallet, which makes it an absolute true gem of a restaurant in our book. Pros: quiet enough to have conversation, good food and friendly staff Cons: can't think of any. more

Great place! 6/28/2006

We like this place. It's the best place to eat in the Ligonier area. Small, intimate, quiet. Excellent wait staff. Good selection and well prepared food. All makes for a great place to have a nice romantic dinner. We drive in from out of state, and make it a point to drive to Ligonier to have dinner at Ivy's whenever we can. Get on their mailing list: the emails are fun to read. Unfortunately, most of the specials are during the week when we cannot get there. It is best to have a reservation, since the dining room is small. more

Phenomenial Food 6/24/2006

We have had the pleaure of dining at Iyy's Cafe on several occasions and every time the food and service has been top notch! The menu is very creative and fresh and is always a taste treat. The waitstaff is very friendly but my favorite part is they are very knowledgeable about the menu. On our last visit we joined one of their clubs we are now Gold Members. Every month when we go we get special perks and we are treated very special. When you go to Ivy's make sure to sign up for their free rewards program and they will add you to their mailing list and you will receive great offers to dine there. Our favorite restaurant in all of Pa. Pros: Great food and service. Cons: They only have on street parking. more
