Island Recreational Pool

I would give them zero stars if possible. It is my opinion that this is a disreputable company and handles customer problems abysmally. I bought a pool heat pump in May from Island recreational in Medford- a pool supply company. It was delivered in June and was dead on arrival. The company sent their technician on July 15 who wrote in his report that the heat pump was non functional and needs replacing. I have been “battling” with the company for 6 plus weeks and I still have a non functioning heat pump. The drag their feet, delay, and make false promises. I have initiated a small claims court lawsuit against them. At this point the pool season is almost over. I’ve went the entire season with a non functioning heat pump and I refuse to have them attempt to fix it. Any repair would not be visible until next June and I think they know that. I want my credit card account credited for the $1085 I spent on the heat pump and they can pick up the garbage as soon as possible. As of September 1st I have not had satisfaction. Stay as far away from this company as possible more

I fell for the solar panel deal. Did you? We are still waiting, almost 2 years after we bought the system. We were told that they are going to cancel orders once they run out of panels instead of ordering more because it is too expensive for the company. They are offering refund + 16% interest. Unfortunately the $4,500 we will get back pales compared to the $30,000 LIPA rebate we lost, the $59,000 solar system and installation. Instead of $3.50 p/w rebate, it is around $1.25. Not even to mention the LIPA bills that would have been lowered if we did have the system in June, 2010 like we were promised. We are holding on hoping to get our system. They are hoping and pushing for us to cancel. I hear class action suit is in works in additional to others getting ready to sue using their private attorneys. Good: Last technician was acceptible after two years of incompotent staff. Service manager is disreputible and avoids calls should be fired.. Bad: Very little, will never use these people or step foot in one of their stores. Nothing but excuses, they failed to provided adequate chemicals to keep poor at a clean and healthy level.. Improvements: Service is a joke, problem after problem. In this compettive world you as a consumer loose if you choose Island Recreation. .. Other: I was locked into a three year contract that is not worth the paper it is written upon. You have to to take them to small claims court for them to meet their obligations.. more

Maintaining a clean and healthy pool is a costly undertaking. Pool chemicals are expensive but Island Recreational sells many chemicals are prices that are sometimes quite reasonable. They have a wide selection of filters, skimmers and other accessories in addition to chemicals. This store also provides free water analysis and advice on what to add to make your water crystal clear. They run frequent ads, with great coupons for 99-cent products. Be careful of their hard sell - when offering advise, they tend to try to sell you the entire store. more
