I moved in to InterUrban a year and a half ago, and loved it at first. Soon after I realized how horrible the management is. In my year and a half, I've been through 3 leasing managers, and at least 7 leasing agents. The newest ones are the worst! I have never been late on paying rent, and just the other day I received a notice of eviction for not paying. I checked my bank account, and I definitely paid! I called down to the leasing office to find out what happened. I told them I had my bank account up and I could show them the payment if I needed to and the agent replied ""Oh my gosh! I am so sorry! There were a few payments unaccounted for, and we didn't know whose they were."" So, instead of looking at tennants payment histories, and contacting them to find out if they could prove they had paid rent for the month of September, they put eviction notices out instead. \r
Also, recently my neighbor went down to the office for something, and noticed a ring of keys still in the lock (it was the set of keys to every apartment in the building!). He waited at the door for the manager, because he didn't want to leave them sitting in the door for everyone to have access to, and when she came back down from showing an apartment, he gave them to her. He told her it was unacceptable that she forgot them there, because she was potentially giving someone everyone's personal information. Her response' ""I'm sorry, I'm new here. It's only my second day.""\r
I have a friend who was hassled by the new leasing agent or manager because I asked him to take care of my dog today while I am working. She finally let him in, after giving him a nasty attitude. \r
As for maintenance, the maintenance guy is very nice and helpful, but he always forgets to fix things and you have to ask him repeatedly. I still have a big rectangular hole in my kitchen area from where he changed an air filter over 6 months ago.\r
Now onto safety. I live on the second floor and the building is supposed to be secure. There are magnet doors that only let you in if you have a FOB. The second door magnet is constantly broken (and when I say broken, I mean actually broken off the door frame and laying on the ground!), and just the other day the magnet door was broken and the surveillance camera was turned away so it was not facing the door. Apparently, someone stole the big screen TV from downstairs. Obviously the building is not secure enough to stop intruders from coming in if they really want to, and that really worries me. \r
Cleanliness' Eh, not really. The elevators constantly have broken beer bottles or spilled beer in them and I've seen food left in the hallways for days. One of the second floor tennants lets their dog pee inside the apartment by the front door, and the urine seeps under the door leaving a big puddle outside the apartment. I've personally seen them go inside the apartment without cleaning it up--they leave it for the cleaining lady! How disgusting!\r
I absolutely love the location and I love my apartment, but when my lease is up I will definitely be taking my business elsewhere. Live in InterUrban if you want the most disorganized management in downtown Dallas! \r
