Our furnace stopped working, and of course this happened when the weather was in the 20s, so we called Horizon (mainly because I knew their name from the Phillies and as a new home owner didn't know who else to call). People on the phone were polite and friendly and scheduled someone to come out that afternoon. He was professional, arrived on time, and quickly diagnosed the problem as a faulty flame sensor. However, a quick look in his binder gave us the up front price of $441!! (or the option of saving 15% if we signed up for their yearly servicing plan). We declined the repair, paid the visit charge ($80), and decided to do the work ourselves. We purchased a new flame sensor from a nearby HVAC store for $11 and it was super easy to replace. Our heater is back up and running now!
While they are quick, reliable, and professional, if cost is of any importance at all I would not recommend having them complete the repair. I am grateful for the accurate diagnosis (I would have never have figured that out on my own), but a quick google search caused me to decline the repair, and in my case, that was a great decision.
