I really wanted to like Haven but the owner was so rude that at first I thought he was joking. Perhaps when they get really busy he just can't handle the pressure and forgets that we, the customer, pay his mortgage! more

I had an amazing dinner here last night. We had a beautiful night so we sat on the outdoor patio which is quite lovely. The service was incredibly attentive. I think my water glass was filled up 4-5 times during dinner. Our waiter was knowledgable, professional and friendly. The food was outstanding. The Yellow Gazpacho is not to be missed. It is tangy, velvety, sweet and garnished with basil oil and a scoop of guacamole. Another favorite dish of the night was their fried blueberry pie, served hot with a scoop of ice cream. Divine! You probably don't NEED a reservation , but I suggest making one so you don't have to wait. more

Terrible Experience!! 2/13/2011

The only thing nice about this ""yuppie"" restaurant is the atmosphere. First of all, the service was terrible. The waiter barely spoke to us and never came around to check on us. He was too busy waiting hand and foot on the obviously rich people eating there. His attention to them was endless, meanwhile we waited 15min after we finished our meal for him to ask if we were done. Then he just tossed a dessert menu in front of us without even asking if we wanted dessert or not. The food was presented very well, but the flavors were not there at all. The ""Jonah Crab Cake"" was heavily seasoned and completely covered up any hint of crab actually being there. Our main course was a very expensive and sad disappointment. My wife ordered the scallops and the dish as a whole was so sweet that she couldn't even finish it. I ordered the Lamb Shank with a ""twice baked potato"". The presentation was beautiful, but it was VERY obvious that both the lamb shank and potato were prepared earlier in the day. There was once a nice sear on the shank, but it was limp and cold on my plate. Both my items were barely room temperature and I only ate it because I was starving. I highly recommend that you stay away from this restaurant unless you enjoy crap service, cold food and expensive tabs. Oh, and my wife got a white russian cocktail with dinner; they charged $10 for a shot of vodka with some milk and kaluha. I also noticed $30 bottles of wine that sell for $10 in publix. more

Great food and service 8/16/2009

Had dinner with another couple and really enjoyed ourselves. We had a drink at the bar and then were promptly seated. The hostess and server were very nice and knowledgeable. We ordered the appetizer special, zucchini blossoms, they were outstanding. Salads are pretty standard, dinners were flavorful and hot when they arrived. We also shared desserts that were great. No complaints. I would go more often but it is a little pricey for a casual evening. Pros: Service, ambiance Cons: Little pricey more

Great restaurant 12/22/2008

I took my girlfriend here for her birhday and I could not say anything bad about this place. The service was great, the food was great and I might add the haystack was fantastic. Will definitely be going back here. Pros: Everything was great Cons: Cant think of any. more

Good food but Service is SLOW and prices are too HIGH 9/1/2008

Went for a casual dinner with the family. Got seated promptly. The service was very slow although courteous. Here's the beef: Wine list is mediocre + Mark West Pinot for $10 a glass. The stuff retails for $8-$9 a bottle! I don't mind $10 for a good glass but Mark West! Pros: Nice atmosphere Cons: Over priced more

Consistently unattentive bartender 9/10/2007

I have been to Haven about five times. The one dinner experience I had there was very good. Selection is broad and service was attentive. The bar scene is a whole different story. I have had the same bartender every time and to sum it up he is a snob and acts like he is doing you a favor getting you a drink. He is more interested in checking out the young waitresses than asking if you would like another drink or get you a menu. On another note there is a tv at the bar which I don't think is necessary/appropriate for a bar that small but then again it gives the bartender another thing to do besides providing service to customers. more

Great food, casual atmosphere 8/21/2007

We've been to Haven once and really enjoyed our dinner. The poached shrimp appetizer with horseradish-tomato puree and avocado was delicious and light for summer. My husband raved about his surf&turf with scallops and brisket - a unique twist on the standard. I had the seared tuna and risotto with fava beans, which was lovely, but I think he ordered better. Very nice wine list. The waitstaff was friendly and helpful; we were seated right away (but had a reservation). I would take a date here to impress or the parents - feel free to show up in jeans, but be ready to pay a price for a much more elegant restaurant. Not unwarranted by any means - the quality of the food was well worth the spend. But it's nice to enjoy it without getting all dressed up. Pros: Amazing, unique menu - couldn't decide what to order! Cons: Price just out of range for a standard weeknight dinner more

2nd Visit and Will Definitely Keep Going Back 1/9/2007

Again, another delicious meal (had visited in the spring). Note the clam strips, though categorized as a small plate, will serve at least 4 people as an appy. I was a bit disappointed that the tomato and zucchini tartlet was not on the menu. Will definitely be back in the spring when it is. I'm not a fan of lamb, but the lamb chops were delicious. The soup of the moment was vegetable minstrone and was perfect for the chilly evening. Pros: Food, service Cons: Limited wine selection more

Very Impressed 3/6/2006

My boyfriends parents were in town and we wanted to take them somewhere nice but not formal. This was the place! The wine list is superb. I got the ribeye with the chili rub and which was also very good. I noticed once I got home that while having a before dinner drink at the bar I was charged for a bottle of wine instead of a glass. I called Haven and spoke with Michel (the owner) he apologized and returned the money to my card. That is service I would not expect but appreciate. All in all excellent restaurant! Pros: great wine, outside seating, good service Cons: loud, crowded more

An excellent meal. We were seated promptly on New Years Eve and had very good. service. We had the Tuna and Potato/artichoke appetizers which were very good. For the main course the shrimp scampi linguini was great as was the turbot off the specials menu. We will definitely return. more

Sophisticated 10/4/2005

Haven is a genteel-but-hip restaurant with great food, great service, and ambience to die for, especially when it is warm and you can sit on the patio. It is, hands-down, one of my top five restaurants in Atlanta. (For the record, another is MIX, which is also owned by the Haven folks.) more

Food is great, now a little service, please 5/17/2005

The atmosphere is outstanding, and the food was superb. The service would have to step it up a notch just to be inattentive. 10 minutes to get two glasses of wine. After an hour we had only been served our appetizer (tasted great) and our salads. From the time our salads were finished until we received our entrees was an additional 25 minutes. And my biggest pet peeve: a server who never picks up the check when the payment is ready. It was literally just sitting there for over 10 minutes. Total time for dinner TWO HOURS!! It doesn't need to be rapid fire, but this was really unnecessarily ridiculous. Pros: Excellent Food, Excellent Atmosphere, Good Wine List Cons: Slow Service, Inattentive Service more

When in Brookhaven 3/13/2005

Cozy, popular Brookhaven restaurant packs in the crowds. You might have to wait awhile on a busy night. But order a bottle of wine at the bar. The food is fantastic, esp. the osso bucco. If you like neighborhood places with great cuisine, definitely give Haven a try. more
