I can't recall the last time a waiter actually displayed disdain for me. It seemed the waiter at Ginza was just too put out to have to do anything for us. He was too preoccupied w...

Great for Lunch 8/7/2006

Excellent sushi, Love the spicy tuna. Good ""rice bowls"". Not busy at lunch, which is the only time I've visited. A bit slow on the service considering it's not busy, but it all works out. \r \r Oops, forgot the Great miso soup. Pros: Great sushi, good rice bowls Cons: slow service more

Poor customer service leaves a bad after taste... 7/24/2006

We love the sushi at Ginza; the creative rolls and the fresh fish. Yet when the Japanese owner is away, the little employees (from the sushi rollers to the servers) don't really care how they come across. This is unfortunate because we thought we finally found a great place, reasonable prices, no lines, but the service we received the last time we ate there was unpleasant and we won't return. First, the poor attitudes of the young boys behind the sushi counter comes across loud and clear when they don't even greet you when you come in or thank you when you leave. Second, the server we had seemed more interested in her prom-queen looks than attending to her customers. She rarely checked on us (as we were ready and willing to order even more sushi), and it didn't seem like she enjoyed her job or her work environment. Her attitude, similiarly to the sushi rollers, came across as apathetic and the ""let's hurry and close so we can cash out our tips."" Ginza needs to hire new friendly employees, and once they do this, we will return happily!!! So please, Ginza owner, you really need to clean house and find better employees who will represent your business in a positive way. more

Great Sushi even if a little noisy 7/22/2005

If this place were not so noisy, I would be there much more regularly. The Sushi and Sashimi is first rate and the chefs are much more willing to prepare a dish a little differently and almost any other Sushi Bar I've found. A request is not met with a scowl and a grunt but with an eagerness to please or a least explain why the change should not be made. In other words they will communicate. Now if they could just cut the noise. Pros: Great Sushi, will make to order, Communicative Cons: Noisy more

The best in SLC, rivals the Bay Area 6/17/2003

Great rolls, great miso, nice atmosphere. Don't go here expecting a romantic spot; expect the best sushi in SLC. You'll get it. Pros: Fresh, Friendly Cons: Downtown parking more

A Fallen Star 2/25/2003

I've known Tetsu since the 1980's and became one of his most loyal customers when he first opened Ginza in the early 90's. At the time he had quality fish, highly skilled chefs, effecient wait help, and a fun atmostphere. Slowly but surely I've watched most all aspects of the place slide dramatically into mediocrity. At the same time I've watched Shogun maintain it's high standards and the new Tsunami restaurant blow by everyone else. Ginza still can satisfy with a simple sushi lunch special or with the well-known Mars roll, but most else disappoints. Pros: location Cons: food, chefs, service more

Excellent Gyoza 1/21/2003

If you are looking for a great place meet a couple of friends to share some fresh sushi this is the place. Pros: Best Gyoza, Fresh, Fast Cons: Small more

Close tie with Kyoto 1/18/2003

If this place was a little bigger and less noisey, it would be better for me. But this is just my opinion. It seems to work for Ginza and I'd hate to take the chance on ruining a pretty good thing. Fresh fish and Tetsu Abe is a great guy. Helped with a Sushi platter and cut his prices so low I felt guilty. Always a treat. Pros: Will cater, fresh fish, great personality Cons: small, a bit noisy for me, (I'm maybe too old) more

Hostess With the Leastest 1/10/2003

I've been a Ginza fan for years. The food is consistently good but the service can be spotty. Tonight took the cake. The hostess should rethink her career. Her attitude clearly rules her out for success in a customer service environment. She was just plain nasty. Fire her Tetsu, she's dragging your scores down. Pros: food Cons: lack of free parking, rude hostess more

The BEST!!!!! 8/16/2002

Not a stuck up trendy wanna be like Ichiban. Tetsu and crew are the real thing!!!! Tetsu is the Japanese dining god of SLC. Thank Ginza for real modern Japanese food!!!!!!! Pros: FOOD, FOOD, FOOD Cons: HUH? more

Sushi, not just for Japanese 8/2/2002

I highly recommend their California rolls or Philadephia. I also think that their miso is one of the best in the city. more

sushi marvel 8/1/2002

The people are great there, willing to answer questions, service was great, sushi marvelous. Took a friend there, said 'It is as good as grandmother used to make'. Pros: bright, clean Cons: limited parking more

Rude server! 7/11/2002

I have been to ginza on several occassions. I was pleased the first few times, utnil I encountered a certain female server who works the evening shift. I was brought there for my birthday about 3:50pm. She gave us the dinner menu and said that we could not order off the lunch menu. After the sushi chef said that we could order off the lunch menu she was nasty to us for the rest of the meal, and kept asking if ""we were going to order more."" I made the mistake of going back again, and she snidely asked if dinner was going to be okay with us this time. I have never been treated like this by any other server, ever. I won't be back, and don't recommend Ginza to anyone. more

We Love It! 6/25/2002

My husband and I go to Ginza several times a month. We've been to several other sushi bars in Salt Lake and Ginza is by far the best. They are generous with their portions, and have no problem adding ingredients here or there. Other places we've been look at you funny or flat out tell you NO if you know what you like in your roll. They are also fabulous when we take our children, unlike The Happy Sumo. more

scrumptous stuff 6/16/2002

good food folks and fun I love Ginza and ginza luuvs me more

American Sushi 5/30/2002

Once you get inside, you feel like you've been transported to San Francisco or at least into a cosmopolitan city. There is WAY too much mayo used on different rolls. I think consumers in Utah are getting sophisticated enough to get a place that does not dumb down the rolls. Overall a good place. Pros: big town feel, fresh food, good buzz Cons: not authentic more
