Relocating to West Hollywood, I researched apartments for months. I found a great 1bdrm for $1000 on Elly Nesis website.. decided to go ahead and do a credit check a week before flying down to see it so things run smooth since i have minimal time to spend in town. I get to the appointment early, Elly himself shows up half hour late. We walk up the steps, he jingles his keys around a bit, then jumps on the phone and starts yelling at his employee ""WHERE ARE THE F*CKING KEYS"" ... yes, right in front of me. Goes on to yell ""THIS IS COMIN OUT OF YOUR F*CKING PAYCHECK, YOU'RE LUCKY I DONT FIRE YOU"". this phone conversation lasted about four minutes but it was so inappropriate and unprofessional that it seemed to drag on forever. If you are going to cuss out your employee, at least excuse yourself and walk away from your clients first. I felt like i was behind the closed doors of an abusive relationship, No exaggeration. at that point I felt, I would hate my life if he was my boss and second, pretty risky man to choose as a land lord. he tells me I'll have to come back in a few days..... I let him know I'm already approved, and specifically FLEW DOWN for this appointment and I have to see it tomorrow, His receptionist agrees to ""squeeze me in"" at 1230 the next day, at that point I felt like a complete inconvenience, as if they were doing me some kind of favor. I show up the next day, elly is about 20 minutes late again, gives me a quick and cold head nod and walks past me up to the apartment...
so here is the completely obnoxious part:
I look around........and see it's a two bedroom.
""Umm... Im here to see the $995 one bedroom I am approved for in this building, this the wrong one.""
he CASUALLY responds with ""oh yah, oops forgot to tell you, there is no one bedroom, just this. It's $1500.""
EXCUSE ME!!!!
There were workers in the apartment, which means he already knew it was a 2bdrm!! He still let me waste my time driving out to west Hollywood from downtown la, wait additional time, FOR THE SECOND TIME, for him show up, Then tells me only after I ask what the hell is goin on?!
Let me also mention, the photos shown on the site WERE NOT THE SAME APARTMENT, the photos were of #10..the real ""one bedroom"", (that was never even available!!!). If I had been shown the photos of the real unit, I would have never went ahead with the credit check (WHICH WAS IN TOTAL.. $50!) let alone go see it in person, one bedroom or not!
So I wasted the credit check fee, the time to arrange the credit check, flying out on that specific date from Sacramento, returning a second time, time spent in a hotel, the comfort of knowing ""all i need to do is double check that the inside is decent, and its mine, because I already took care of the other steps and I have my deposit ready "" and time wasted that could have been used viewing other apartments!!!! ....ONE BEDROOM APARTMENTS!
I had to change my flight, take more days off of work, and spend the next solid week looking for somewhere else.
Elly Nesis made the already stressful situation of searching for an apartment in a new town, a nightmare.
PS: ive noticed all of the older reviews on elly are consistently poor ones.. then all the sudden there are a ton of ""5 star"" generic reviews, i have a feeling *someone* from the company may be trying to move the stars back up.
